Every Labour Day weekend a group of us explore one of Canada's treasures: Algonquin Park just north of Toronto, Ontario. It is a time of canoeing, portaging and camping with a group of great friends in this wilderness jewel.
In Belgium, the lily of the valley is the symbol of Labour Day, which is celebrated on May 1st - today that is! So I was glad to find some of them flowering in my garden: they look delicate and their scent is so sweet.
Happy Labour Day to all of you!
West Point Lighthouse has endured many storms since the Spring of 1876. It is the first and only lighthouse built on Prince Edward Island that is painted in black and white, as originally the traditional red and white markers were not as visible by mariners before sunset.
In Belgium Labour Day falls on 1st May, International Workers' Day, and the Lily of the Valley with its delicate scent is its symbolic flower.
This year Labour Day is not like other years: no demonstrations, and not the real day-off feeling for most people, since most of us have been at home for several weeks now. Most people would LOVE to return to work!

If you wish to make anything grow, you must understand it, and understand it in a very real sense. 'Green fingers' are a fact, and a mystery only to the unpracticed. But green fingers are the extensions of a verdant heart.

Labour Day (Labor Day in the United States) is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers. Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest. For many countries, Labour Day is synonymous with, or linked with, International Workers' Day, which occurs on 1 May.

On the afternoon of Wednesday 14 September 2022, Class 66 loco no. 66063 leads 66083, both of DB Cargo, labouring out of Bristol on the approach to the Langton Court Road overbridge. This train was 6Z85, the Tytherington (1533hrs) to Little Kemble loaded stone working.

A rat always knows when he's in with weasels
Here you lose a little every day
Well, I remember when a million was a million
They all have ways to make you pay

She always had that little drop of poison
