which I really like
I grabbed some salami, cheese, apples, stuffed grape leaves and crackers and drove up the hill to McLaren Park. As I was setting up my picnic I read the label and it said “Whether your chiming glasses in scenic vineyards or cruising the Big Sur coastline, nothing is more Californian than taking the time to celebrate natural wonders. So sit and relax. Open a bottle of the golden state’s finest and enjoy with a view”
I had serendipitously already chosen a great view of SF and it paired well, revealing a warm bread aroma on first snort, followed by a buttery slightly sweet taste that was very refreshing. Certainly not the driest chardonnay I’ve tasted, the slight sweetness tasted like pears, buttery pears.
To be enjoying a sunny picnic on a weekday afternoon made me feel slightly guilty, like I was cheating life again, but hey! It’s my job. Paired with Grocery Outlet’s Salami and Cheese tray $4.99/$9.99 elsewhere, Chevo smoked salt and rosemary marinated goat cheese ($3.99) Flat bread crisps ($1.99/$4.69 elsewhere) and organic apples ($3.99/ $4.99 elsewhere) it felt like highway robbery for about $20. total. It went down so well we continued drinking it that evening. Get it while it lasts and demand a case!
