Packaging design for Dione, the latest series of Dourakis Winery. We were asked to create a fresh and vivid collection, composed of four wines, addressed mainly to young people. We approached the labels as a canvas, that visualises the landscape of the vineyard, as an abstract and colourful composition, in order to transfer the wine senses in a metaphorical but visually strong way. The result is a variety of shapes that work in rhythm while the choice of colours represent also the specific type of wine.

Einpacken - Auspacken - und wieder Einpacken. Wir verbringen einen nicht unwesentlichen Teil unseres Lebens damit, Dinge ein- oder auszupacken. Dabei gibt es nichts, was nicht irgendwann einmal verpackt wurde. Von Konsumgütern über Nahrungsmittel und Kleidung, selbst für Pflanzen und Tiere gibt es eigens gestaltete Verpackungen. Abgerundet wird die perfekte Verpackung durch das Label oder Etikett.
Mal sind sie rein funktional und ästhetisch unscheinbar, mal aufwendig gestaltet und innovativ, manche Verpackungen nehmen sogar selbst Objektcharakter an. Ein weitaus interessanteres Feld als man zunächst denken würde. Deshalb suchen wir Entwürfe und Arbeiten zum Thema „Package & Label Design“! In 2D, 3D als Foto oder auch als Skizze. Wir würdet ihr verpacken?
Wrap it up, unwrap it, and wrap it up again. Every day we all have to deal with packaging in one form or another. There's almost nothing that cannot be wrapped up. There's special packaging for almost everything – consumer's goods, clothing, food, even plants and living animals. The perfect packaging is rounded off by a distinctive label. Some are merely functional and plain, some are inventive, more aesthetically pleasing. A much more interesting and rewarding field of work than one would imagine!
Therefore, we’re collecting all sorts of package & label designs – realized or not – in 2D, 3D, as a photo or just as a sketch. How would you wrap it up?
Label Design from Holland. ------When Imperial was founded in 1947, it concentrated on rhythm and blues (R&B) and country music: Fats Domino, Frankie Ford, Ricky Nelson, and Slim Whitman. In the UK Imperial was distributed by London Records.
Imperial bought Aladdin Records in 1960 and Minit Records in 1963 (having distributed Minit since 1960). During the 1950s, Imperial was one of the primary labels issuing a vast quantity of R&B from New Orleans, through their involvement with the producer and writer Dave Bartholomew, and in the 1960s, with their distribution (and purchase, a few years later) of the independent label Minit Records.
In 1963, after Imperial lost Fats Domino and Ricky Nelson to rival record companies, Chudd sold the label to Liberty Records.[1] Under Liberty's management, the label enjoyed success with Irma Thomas, Johnny Rivers, Jackie DeShannon, Classics IV, and Cher.
During the British Invasion, Liberty (whose recordings were distributed by EMI in the UK) licensed The Hollies, Billy J. Kramer, the Dakotas, and the Swinging Blue Jeans from EMI. Recordings by the Bonzo Dog Band and Kim Fowley were issued in the U.S. on the Imperial label.
By 1970 the label had become part of Liberty's merger with United Artists Records but was phased out shortly after, with its artists being transferred to United Artists. EMI acquired the Imperial Records catalogue with its acquisition of UA Records in 1979.

My wife and I made a quick detour to Maryhill, WA on our way to Hood River, OR. Great choice. We stopped at the Stonehenge War Memorial, drove into the Maryhill Museum (but it was packed with kids so we didn't stop), the Maryhill Winery, and happened upon a small State Park - I think it's called Columbia Hills State Park - there are three sections to it but two of them were still closed - bummer!
