BNSF 7267 leads an eastbound train out of Abo Canyon, with Bridge 7 in the distance, on Oct 28, 2024. Yes powerlines removed for artistic reasons!
The jagged peaks of the Sierra Ladrones form some of the distant backdrop as four BNSF ES44C4s lead an El Paso bound stack train through the wetland area of Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge near LaJoya, NM. While not as popular as Bosque del Apache NWR south of Socorro, Sevilleta also boasts some excellent bird and other wildlife watching, especially in this area along the Rio Grande. Plus, every now and again a train on the El Paso Subdivision!

Type: Bufori LaJoya
Date: 13/10/2008
Location: Sydney Convention Centre Darling Harbour Sydney New South Wales
Notes: The 2008 Sydney International Motor Show. Bufori is an Australian brand that manufactures low volume vehicle based on a 1930's American style. The name Bufori is in fact an acronym for Beautiful Unique Funtastic Original Romantic Irresistible. The company was formed in the mid 1980's by three Lebanese / Australian brothers who wanted to do something different. In regard to their actual build they do use existing parts from different manufacturers, in the LaJoya the engine is a 2.7 Liter Hyundai GB6A V6. Visually the LaJoya has a strong connection to the 1980's XJ Jaguar sedans, just check out the rear lights!
The old now closed post office in the village of La Joya. The present day village of La Joya, due to its close proximity to the Piro pueblo of Sevilleta (Tzelaqui), has been known by many different names throughout history, Jolla de Sevilleta, Plaza Sevilleta, Ceboleta and Pueblo de la Joya (to name just a few) and served as a staging area for assembling southbound caravans, and a welcomed rest stop for northbound travellers on the Camino Real*
La Joya does have a newer post office which is open for stamps, mail and the usual.
*The Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, Spanish for Royal Road of the Interior Land, was a 1,600 mile (2560 km) long trade route between Mexico City and San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico, from 1598 to 1882.

An H-BARKCK rolls to a stop between Scholle and Kayser due to a work window ahead at Mountainair. In fact, there's another eastbound train about 300 yards in front of this manifest on the same main. This train would slowly ease to a stop about a hundred yards behind the other eastbound and would sit there for a couple hours waiting for the work window to pass to the east.
This was just sort of a grab shot given the lighting, but I think it's neat and gives a cool perspective of the landscape. The background is basically the mouth to Abo Canyon.
