Male goldfinches fly upwards facing one another; I cannot count the times I've tried to capture their vertical flights. This I found (among several thousand photos shot this past week) while focusing on the female redwing, above.

Feeling relief over the lack of violence in Tulsa Saturday night. Black lives matter—of course!

I'm a lucky girl

I do lucky things

Getting all my dreams

For what it's worth it seems that

I'm a lucky girl

And all good things

Come to me

Flow to me

Move through me

Everything works out for me

No taking control of me

I move by my own two feet

Steady how we rock the beat

Yeah

Happy St.Patrick's Day

Eurasian Magpie [pica pica]

An opportunistic shoot, today...I went shopping, and this guy and his partner were hanging around outside a shop, on the grass, during a lovely, sunny interlude.

Having been rushing around stores during my lunch break, this encounter made me slow right down. He was hopping around, unconcerned at my presence and even seemed to pose for the camera, a couple of times. He reminded me of a male model, so I’ve decided to call this image, Lucky Blue, after famous young American model, Lucky Blue Smith.

I have always loved magpies, but only very recently did I become aware of the amazing array of colours on their wings and tails. A very intelligent bird, it can recognise it’s own reflection in a mirror!

(I was fed up waiting for my glacial-paced WiFi to enable Flickr to upload my images, so I took a screen shot of the photo I took this afternoon, on my iPad for this one.)

It was my first time photographing this species. I had seen them before in TX. I was lucky to see this bird at its nest in Patagonia. I love how fierce they look!!

This bracelet from Quebec, Canada, was given to me by a close friend. I call it a lucky charm.

I might be superstitious but I believe items can bring luck.

Happy MM!

On our way back from photographing a boat at the Superior entry, I took the long way home thinking there might be a shot potential at Allouez as a loaded ore train had arrived a few hours earlier and might be near the County A road crossing if not already dumping. It was raining when we arrived but the sky cleared after 10 minutes and a double rainbow appeared over the DP GE. Not the best looking unit (I've seen worse), but I'll certainly take the scene.

Among the ruins of Preah Khan, she sold lucky charms, the colored strings she's wearing on her wrist. Angkor, Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Lucky horse, I thought, a meadow with such a view!

Thorshühnchen* grey phalarope * Phalaropus fulicarius

Eine Rarität in Deutschland! A rarity in Germany!

As a long-distance puller, the Grey Phalarope spends the winter off the coasts of South America and Africa. It is all the cooler in the summer, because the northern regions of Canada, Alaska and Siberia are among its breeding areas, as well as Greenland, Iceland and the Spitsbergen, which belongs to Norway, at the Northern Polar Circle.

In the European inland, the Grey Phalarope can only be observed if it is distracted by storms or other disturbances on the bird migration. Also on the North Sea coast, a skilled eye with luck can identify Grey Phalarope returning to their Arctic homeland.
