These flats are near our house and I've taken loads of pictures of the building over the years; last week I managed to get a good one - the light seemed to be just right for this particular perspective. Winchester Court, Nottingham, UK.

an L-shaped lean-to shed around my existing roller blind shed.
Just finished. The concrete floor was poured in April so it has had a long gestation period.
I have a lot of tidying/organisation to do over next couple of months to move hopefully to a-place-for-everything mode. ...and free up the garage.
For the 126 pictures in 2026 group: number 118. What brings you joy

Well, after his beloved Rock Island shut down in 1980, it seems as if my dad was forced into foaming other lines instead. On an April, 1981 trip to Peoria with some friends from the Little Q model railroad club in Aurora, they stumbled upon this TP&W train pounding the old GM&O diamonds at Chenoa, IL. TP&W no. 900, one of their three GP35s was leading the 102 and 400.
Unfortunately, this depot was demolished in 2009: www.pontiacdailyleader.com/article/20091027/NEWS/310279950

Ex-CMStP&P, formerly located at 2904 Wisconsin Street. Sturtevant’s passenger service was discontinued by the mid 1960s but restored with the start-up of Amtrak in 1971, so that there would still be train service near Racine, which had lost its service. Most depots are long straight buildings, this one is “L” shaped. When this depot was built there were two perpendicular rail lines [Milwaukee Road and Racine, Janesville & Mississippi which became part of the Milwaukee Road in 1873] that crossed in Corliss (now Sturtevant). This depot was designed to handle both lines with the station master in the octagon area. The perimeter windows gave view of both roadbeds.
On August 14, 2006, Sturtevant’s new Amtrak station opened. CP offered a choice of razing the old building or moving it. They owned both the structure and parking lot across the tracks. Local businessmen who had purchased the Klinkert Hotel near the old depot intended to buy the adjacent station parking lot, which could only happen when the building was somehow disposed of.
Heading off demolition, the nearby Caledonia Historical Society negotiated to purchase the depot and move it out of the village to Linwood Park, and CP agreed to pay half the costs of the move. The structure was finally moved to its new home in four pieces on October 25, 2009 where it was placed on a new foundation and winterized, with restoration to be completed the next spring.

Crazy to think this was designed the same year as Wright's Fallingwater. Perhaps the first-built Usonian house. It is L-shaped with an open floor plan, two bedrooms, and largely-glazed walls on the inside of the L facing south and west under deep overhangs. The original cost was $5500. Wright was notorious for going overbudget so to economize construction costs Wright developed a 2-1/4 inch thick plywood sandwich wall for use on this house. Rumor maintains that he also redirected bricks from the Johnson Wax Building. The Jacobs family quickly outgrew the ranch house so they commissioned Wright for a passive solar hemi-cycle house in the 1940's.
It is now in the middle of a congested neighborhood of Madison, Wisconsin. Here's a comparison to the original site.

A number of cameras need a special adapter in order to use a standard shutter cable release. These cameras include the earlier Yashica Mat TLRs, the screw-mount Leicas, and the Nikon F and F2.
This special cable release adapter is often called a "Leica Nipple".
My Lisa baby crossed the rainbow on May 6th. I miss her. She was the 3rd born kitty out of the litter. My grey kitty. She was always very friendly with everyone, and was very inquisitive. She would always come to see who the visitors were while the other kitties were more shy. She liked the outdoors, and would frequently take little walks around the house with me. She liked to chew on grass, she also liked to sharpen her claws on the sofa and sit with me in the kitchen while I cooked. She caught me a mouse in March, we were trying to catch it as it ran around the living room, Lisa sprung into action and got it, releasing it by my feet, then helping me pin it down again so I could take it and let it go outside. She's with Suzie, Tufie, Charm and Lucky now, hopefully relaxing in the great open fields under blue skies, enjoying the warm breeze. Lisa baby - July 9, 2008 - May 6, 2024
