The weather shall not be an obstacle if the subject is right! Sterling's Caravelle 12 OY-SAG was more than right, captured taxiing out for departure in pouring rain, dubbed 'Super Star' in Sterling service.
The Danish company was the launch customer of the last and largest version of the Caravelle built, and took seven out of the total of 12 Caravelle 12s produced. Air Inter was the only other notable customer of the design. The Caravelle 12, also dubbed the 'Super Caravelle', was basically a 10B with a fuselage stretch of 3.2 m/10ft 6 in, seating up to 140 passengers.
OY-SAG was the seventh and last 12 delivered to Sterling, entering service in June 1972. In 1982 it was sold to Air Inter as F-GCVK, who retired it in 1991, and moved it to Merville as an instructional airframe in June 1993. Recent photos show it still there, sitting in the grass next to a former Air France Boeing 727 and in very poor condition.
