Happy Me Again Monday my Flickr Friends :-)

You have to always continue to strive no matter how hard things get, no matter how troubled you feel. No matter how tough things get, no matter how many times you lose, you keep trying to win.

In these troubled, uncertain times, we don't need more command and control; we need better means to engage everyone's intelligence in solving challenges and crises as they arise.

“It's the action, not the fruit of the action, that's important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there'll be any fruit. But that doesn't mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.” - Mahatma Gandhi

"I'm not trying to be new school and I'm not old school - I'm classic. There's a lot of new cars and there's a lot of old cars, but I'm just classic in doing what I do."

Graham-Paige was an American automobile manufacturer founded by brothers Joseph B. Graham (1882-1970), Robert C. Graham (1885-1967), and Ray A. Graham (1887-1932) in 1927. Automobile production ceased in 1940, and its automotive assets were acquired by Kaiser-Frazer in 1947. As a corporate entity, the Graham-Paige name continued until 1962.

This is the Henry the Hatter store sign of course at the Henry the Hatter store in downtown Detroit. The famous Henry was Henry Komrofsky. He opened his store in 1893 and became partners with one of his employees, Gustave Newman in 1919. They moved the store to the Library Park Hotel building on Gratiot and Library streets. Soon thereafter, in 1923, they built a second store on Michigan Avenue in the Lafayette building. Mr. Komrofsky died in 1941 and Newman continued to run the business. In 1952, the store was moved to its current location on Broadway Street. The store was not only a store, but also a factory where custom made hats could be made in a matter of hours if so needed. Some famous known customers of the shop include Run DMC, LL Cool J, Kid Rock and Steve Harvey.

My piece for The Vader Project. This piece had a nice run in galleries, including being showcased at Lucas Arts and at the Andy Warhol Museum. Freeman's Auctions sold it to the highest bidder last month.

LL Cool J Blue, part of a set of prints of rappers including Slick Rick, Tupac, and Biggie, was originally created in 2004, and is included in the MÖTUG Collective (Monsters of the Unda-Ground) mural at Keap Street and Hope Street in Williamsburg.

OBEY Giant is a street art campaign by artist and guerrilla marketer Shepard Fairey. The campaign originated with the André the Giant Has a Posse sticker that Fairey created in 1986 in Charleston, South Carolina. Distributed by the skater community, the stickers began showing up everywhere. In 1989, while a student at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design), Fairey released his manifesto and the Obey Giant campaign was born. The campaign, an "experiment in phenomenology" pushed primarily through stickers and prints, has a mission to attempts to stimulate curiosity and bring people to question both the campaign and their relationship with their surroundings. Because people are not used to seeing advertisements or propaganda for which the motive is not obvious, frequent and novel encounters with Obey propaganda provoke thought and possible frustration, nevertheless revitalizing the viewer's perception and attention to detail. Over time the artwork has been reused in a number of ways, most famously in with his "Hope" campaign poster for Barack Obama in the 2008 United States Presidential election.
