Opened in the winter of 2020, this serves as the first free standing eye institute for pediatric patients in the nation. It's sister building, the "Casey Eye Institute" sits right next door and is where I got my Lasik surgery done years ago. As someone who relies on their vision for their livelihood, it is one of, if not the best thing I have done in my life. Plus no more wet napped, dirty backpacking fingers going into my eyeballs on overnight hikes :)

There are a lot of cool design features, views, and art at the ECEC.....one of which are these Olympic like LED rings.

Inside every Liquidleds light bulb is a special fluid solution, the core ingredient we use to improve the quality of using Led’s for lighting applications. Our Liquid Immersed Thermal Management Solution™ (LITMS™) technology, the vacuum sealed liquid maximises the efficiency of LED thermal management. Liquid-cooled LED globe combine the advantages of the classic light bulb with environmental sustainability and energy efficiency - a new generation of light. Up at 04:00 to try and catch Elon Musk's Starlink satellites going over so back to the Pump Pit.

Pitch black when I arrived about 05:15 and one solitary bivvy on the far bank with a none intrusive light on the porch and two bright blue LED's from his bite alarms. His pitch/swim looked tidy enough fortunately and he emerged to check what the light was as I tried to get focus, and gave me a shout across the pond. Not sure who was more nervous but he was obliging enough when I asked him to turn his bite alarms off for a half hour, "I can do better than that lad, nowt 'appening anyway. Give me swim a rest innit," as he switched his buzzers off, pulled his rods in and went back to bed.

Brought back memories of carp fishing at Welford Pools by RAF Fairford during the Balkans conflict and watching two B-52's taking off directly over us. Impressive and very noisy but they returned about 8 hours later and the reality that they had dropped ordnance and probably killed people hit home.

Read a lot about the Starlinks and currently there are about 360 in orbit, launching 60 at a time with the latest one's having a coating on them to make them less reflective in the night sky. Saying the astrophotography forums are a little annoyed is a massive understatement. If 360 are ruining their experience, what it'll be like when 12000 of them are in orbit I dread to think.

I've watched them go over and accidently caught a few when capturing the ISS from the garden a few nights ago and they are something of a novelty at the moment. I can see their point though. Yes they can be removed in post but that is going to get very onerous very quickly.

As for me, well that's my exercise for the day done at 06:45. So thanks for that Elon!

Stay safe all.

Wassertropfen auf Löwenzahn, bunte LED's leuchten durch eine Plastiktüte als Hintergrund.

This year will mark the start of a dazzling light show that will last two years, compliments of a New York artist who, along with his team is setting up 25,000 LED's on the suspension cables over the western span that will be controlled in various ways to create dazzling illumination effects. The lights will not officially go on display until March, but a night ago they were doing some tests, and I'll tell you right now… it was a lot of fun to watch.

Here is a photographic representation of what I saw… but in reality it was something altogether different. Imagine a shimmering waterfall coming down…made out of lights. That's what I was watching and all the artist renderings of what this will look like completely dimmed in comparison.

March will not arrive soon enough…

A very poor, rushed shot of the rear end of Arriva North West 3058 MX10 DCU is seen here in Tuebrook as it operates route 18 to Croxteth Park.

This bus, along with 3059-61, have been on loan to Arriva Malta for the past 9 months. They have now returned. In an effort to get them into service quicker, the LED's have been rather poorly programmed. The front shows the route number on the left, the side just shows the number and the rear doesn't work at all.

This bus is plastered with Maltese notices internally, and as can just be seen here it's Arriva Malta website notice is still evident.
