So the year was 1977 and a six year old me,my dad and grandad stood in line to watch this film called Star Wars A New Hope.At the time I didn't really understand it but I was hooked. From that moment on I wanted all the toy's and over forty years on I still have them.So I have tried to recreate one of the final scenes from episode six Return Of The Jedi, the bit were Luke battles his father Darth Vader in front of the Emperor.I used three figures (Luke,Vader and the Emperor) and used green and red LED's to light the scene and the Lightsabers.
The humble strawberry with a little sexy lighting.
(shone LED's through red tissue paper to achieve this)

Rittenhouse Square - Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Rittenhouse Square, originally named Southwest Square, was one of five green areas designed into Philadelphia by William Penn. In 1825, the square was renamed Rittenhouse, after David Rittenhouse - a renowned inventor and astronomer. He was also the treasurer of PA (1777) and the first US Mint director.
During the Christmas holiday, the square is decorated with hanging-wreaths, -snowflakes, and a Christmas tree... all in traditional white lights. Not sure if the bulbs are LED's, but they have the wonderful warm glow of incandescents..

The Polar Vantage V2 sport watch has an impressive arsenal of LED's and photodetectors placed in between, constituting an array of PPG (Photoplethysmography) sensors. The different wavelengths (colors) allow the detection of blood flow at different depths and for most skin types, before a highly optimized algorithm combines and untangles all those signals and figures out how fast your heart beats. Oh, and this has to run on a single battery charge for about a week... 😊
The roof of the courtyard of the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam is a self supporting structure, designed by architect Laurent Ney. It consists thousands pieces of glass in a metal frame. The design is inspired by the compass lines of old sea charts. In each of the 868 nodes are 4 LED's that can be controlled separately.
High on my priority list for my return to Winnipeg was the Greater Winnipeg Water District, (GWWD). The problem with having class M-F 0800-1600 is that it presents a very small window to shoot as they’re a weekday only operation. However, twice a month they run in the evening to return from the intake east of Winnipeg. With class in full swing for week two, it was time to hit the books a little harder, but hearing of a planned run warranted a break from studying. Mark, Jack and I headed east of town on Wednesday, August 21st early in the evening. The plan was to chase the GWWD back to Winnipeg as light would permit. We ran into a westbound on the Redditt before veering off to the small community of Ross which is in the middle of nowhere. However, it’s crucial to the railroad, as there’s a back track where ballast is loaded for the shortline. Talking amongst ourselves, we waited anxiously for the crew returning to “the Peg”. Lots of time allowed for lots of angles to be sized up, and in the end, I climbed the relatively loose ballast pile to gain some elevation on the now cloudy evening. Finally as darkness was drawing all too close, the ALCO could be heard and then seen in the distance with their short train of various cars in tow, along with a ballast car framed off to the right. The only thing completely out of place which truly does date this photo, is the fact that 200 now sports LED’s for the headlights and ditchlights. One shot was all that we got in the waning light, but I was more then grateful to be able to shoot one of two working Alcos on the GWWD.
Five LED's in a Christmas mood!
Believe it or not, but none of the components are powered...
A green laser beam hits the LED's from the right while a desk lamp is responsible for the white light from the top.
The parts lie on a plexiglas panel and there is a red printed circuit board (PCB) underneath.
The biggest LED's are 10 mm in diameter while the smaller one are 5 mm.
This 12V car bulb still uses a Tungsten filament to produce light and a lot of waste energy as heat. The LED's in the mobile phone require only a tiny amount of energy.
I've used window light from the RHS with a green card to add reflection and contrast.
…….This chink of light on the light switch caught my eye so a quick grab shot before the sun moved! Strip lights are a thing of the past as LED’s are the new ‘green’ must haves nowadays! Hope the week is going well, stay local & locked down to stay safe and to keep EVERYONE else safe too! A VERY BIG THANK YOU to ALL the key workers who are carrying on to benefit the rest of us - we applaud you all. Alan;-)👏👏👏👏👏

LED signals are great... Most of the time.. The Fond du Lac maintainer has his hands full today. Shown expertly cleaning signal faces at the intermediate near Lost Arrow Road for the approaching Q198 on Track 2.
A macro view of rose gold safety pins against a burgundy felt background, taken for the Macro Mondays group theme, "Pins." The frame represents 1¼-inches across.
Technical info:
The scene was illuminated by a single steady LED light panel, placed 90° CL, two-feet away from the subjects and at camera level. The green and blue LED's of a Coast TX10 Quad Color flashlight, placed overhead and to the right, were exposed for 1/8s to add a very subtle influence to the image (seen mainly around the bokeh balls).

This image taken from near the recreated one-room cabin originally built by Dallas founding father John Neely Bryan in Dallas County Historical Plaza on the West End of Dallas Texas features the Reunion Tower and historic Red Courthouse. The Reunion Tower was built in 1978 as part of a citywide urban redevelopment plan, it stands at 561 feet and features a stalk-like base with large glittery sphere on top. It has a remarkable observation deck in that sphere that provides an incredible view of downtown Dallas and beyond. I first visited the tower in 1984 and then again in 2023 almost 40 years later. It had been closed for quite some time for renovations. In this image taken at night shows some of the 259 color-changing LED’s on the sphere’s exterior that adorn the skyline with a myriad of patterns and color changes. The Reunion name is attributed to John Scovell, then-CEO of Woodbine Development Corporation a local who was fascinated with La Réunion, a 19th-century French settlement founded by followers of the socialist utopian thinker Charles Fourier not far from this site whose name was also applied to the Reunion Arena which was the former home of the Dallas Mavericks NBA team, long gone now Reunion Park. 1,400 hand-blown glass spheres swirl into the playful shape of a gust of snow, a joyful interpretation of the sublime alpine hinterland of the InterContinental Hotel. This dynamic structure is animated by pairs of LED’s – one white, one blue – that illuminate each globe, and glisten along the chandelier’s surface. The installation stands at 28 metres long – a fittingly monumental centrepiece for the luxurious setting – and interacts with the snow-capped mountains through the towering windows that line the room.

-Nikon D600 + Nikor 105mm macro 1X

Pixel Cube
25 York Street
Pixel Cube is a 12 x 15 x 18-foot cube made up of 30,000 individually controllable colour LED's suspended in the foyer of 25 York Street. The pixels create a three-dimensional image surface that can update at full video speed. Several different approaches are used to present abstract and real-world imagery on and in the cube. The cube can present material prepared in advance, but it can also be live, and interactive. The cube is a real three-dimensional display surface. By selectively lighting the pixels, dynamic light sculptures can be created and interacted with.
The first Advent, the first day of the last month of the year, has begun, the dark season. It's nice that we light a few lights ourselves, beautiful candles, sometimes with LEDs.
Giving a wonderful scent with baking cookies, a little walk and then allowed to gnaw off.
Beautiful 1st Advent ans HSS!
===============================

One of the most fascinating things to observe today in the Grand Central Terminal Main Concourse is what is above, the amazing constellation ceiling which in 1998 was restored to its original luster after years and years of smoking that occurred. The ceiling prior to that was actually brown and black, quite dismal. Though today New York City was amongst the first cities in the United States that banned cigarette smoking from almost everywhere except on the sidewalk, restaurants, bars and even parks included, when I was growing up and visited, it was hard to find a place without a smoker in close proximity. Grand Central where so many waited since 1913 for their trains was constantly filled with smoke from cigarettes and it took its toll on the artwork on the ceiling.
The ceiling or zodiac mural as it is often referred to is considered one of New York City’s most beloved works of art. The origin going back to 1912 when French pastelist and etcher Paul César Helleu created the concept with the zodiac signs from October to March. The zodiac signs that were included were Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini and Cancer. In addition some other constellations like Pegasus, Orion, Triangulum and Musca are also outlined on the ceiling in gold leaf and modeled by small gold leaf stars. The background in turquoise is supposed to simulate the blue-green skies seen over Greece and South Italy between October and March. The restoration and modernization (LED’s have replaced all the old lighting) have brought this treasure back so passengers and visitors alike can view them. White LED are gradually replacing the traditional orange tungsten street lighting around Dublin.
While the orange tungsten gave a very nice warm colour, the newer LED's give off a very sharp effect, almost like a bright star.

Tonight Atlanta celebrated "Light Up the Beltway", a huge 'parade' of walkers carrying Lanterns of many types along an inner city loop (unfinished) trail which follows an old, abandoned railroad track. I was shooting handheld with my Nikon Df as the people walked by in the almost pitch black night carrying their lanterns. Most of them are lighted with battery powered LED's, such as this one. This image was exposed at ISO 10,000 in order to stop the blur from the swinging lantern in the hands of a walking individual
