Lately I have seen a lot of beautiful things and also made a lot of pictures. However, due to a stressful and difficult period, I was unable to post anything for a few weeks. I will be posting regularly from now on. Breda is a pleasant city in the Dutch province of Brabant with a rich history. There are beautiful buildings and the city park is also highly recommended. There is also a lot to see in the field of public art. This striking work of art in the photo can be seen near the bus stop. It is a real eye-catcher. Cyclists, motorists, and bus passengers wonder what exactly the very special and large stainless steel work of art represents. The masterpiece is a creation of Manashe Kadishman. It was produced in 1986 for an exhibition and eventually ended up on the grass of the street Het Vlaszak in the center of the popular city. Sadly, 1986 was also the year of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, but that aside. The image of the Israeli artist refers to the biblical story of Abraham. In this heartbreaking story, Abraham is initially forced to sacrifice his son Isaac. He is convinced that this is an assignment he cannot refuse. Tension rises to a climax and the death of his boy is imminent, but at the very last moment an angel of heaven appears and prevents the catastrophe. The enlightened Abraham repents and instead of his son, he sacrifices a ram in the bushes of the grass next to him. The statue therefore represents a Ram in combination with a human head.

In de afgelopen tijd heb ik weer veel moois gezien en ook veel foto's gemaakt. Echter door een stressvolle en moeilijke periode heb ik een paar weken niets meer kunnen posten. Vanaf nu zal ik weer regelmatig posten. Breda is een gezellige stad in het Nederlandse brabant met een rijke geschiedenis. Er staan prachtige gebouwen en het stadspark is ook een echte aanrader. Op het gebied van kunst en kunstwerken is er eveneens een hoop te zien. Zo is er vlakbij de bushalte dit opvallende kunstwerk van de foto te zien. Het is een echte blikvanger en zowel passerende automobilisten, fietsers en mensen die op de bus staan te wachten vragen zich af wat het zeer bijzondere en aparte grote roestvrijstale kunstwerk precies voorstelt. Het meesterwerk is een creatie van Manashe Kadishman. Het is in 1986 vervaardigd voor een expositie en uiteindelijk terecht gekomen op het gras van de straat Vlaszak in het centrum van de populaire stad. 1986 was droevig genoeg ook het jaar van de kernramp in Tsjernobyl, maar dit terzijde. Het beeld van de Israelische kunstenaar verwijst naar het bijbelverhaal van Abraham. In dit hartverscheurende verhaal moet Abraham in eerste instantie zijn zoon Isaac opofferen. Hij is ervan overtuigd dat hiervoor een opdracht is die hij niet kan weigeren. De spanning stijgt tot een ultiem hoogtepunt en de dood van zijn jongen is nabij, maar op het allerlaatste moment voorkomt een engel die in de hemelen zijt en op aarde neerdaalt de aanstaande catastrofe. De verlichte Abraham komt tot inkeer en offert in plaats van zijn zoon een ram in de bosjes van het gras naast hem op. Het beeld stelt dan ook een Ram in combinatie met een mensenhoofd voor.

The National Museum of History and Art (Nationalmusée fir Geschicht a Konscht, Musée national d'histoire et d'art, Nationalmuseum für Geschichte und Kunst), abbreviated to MNHA, is a museum dedicated to displaying artworks and artefacts from all epochs of Luxembourg history. The museum is situated in Fishmarket, the historic heart of Luxembourg City, in the Ville Haute quarter.

Silvester Steier (seltene auch Steyr), genannt Leovalla, war ein evangelischer Dichter aus der zweiten Hälfte des 16. Jahrhunderts. Über seinen Lebensverhältnissen liegen keine gesicherten Informationen vor. Der Zuname Leovalla, durch den er seine Herkunft bezeichnet, könnte auf Liebenthal in Mähren (heute Lubomer pod Strážnou in Tschechien) hinweisen. 1571 vollendete er eine von seinem Bruder Martin auf Anregung des pfalzgräflichen Kanzlers Johann Knod zu Amberg begonnene gereimte Verdeutschung von Buchanans lateinischer Tragödie Jephtes, die dann zu Nürnberg gedruckt wurde. Die an Frau Ursula Knod gerichtete Vorrede ist von Martin Steier unterzeichnet. Ein weiteres, mit Melodien versehenes Liederwerk, erschien 1583 unter dem Titel 'Hymnorum oeconomicorum'. 1594 veröffentlichte Steier ein zwanzig Jahre zuvor begonnenes theologisches Werk über die Stammeltern Christi unter den Titel 'Historia genealogiae domini nostri Jesu Christi', das, mit Holzschnitten versehen, am Verlagsort Frankfurt/Main gedruckt wurde. Das vorangestellte Widmungsgedicht ist Kaiser Rudolf II. (1552-1612) gewidmet. Im Vorwort erwähnt Steier verschiedene böhmische Gönner und Freunde, so bezeichnet er den bekannten Theologen Leonhard Krenzheim (1532-1598) als seinen Schwager und erwähnt, dass er Abraham Buchholzer (1529-1584) zu Grabe geleitet habe, ein Umstand, der so verstanden werden könnte, dass Steier Pfarrer war, was auch seine klassische Bildung erklären würde.

Heinrich Cornelius Hecker, (* 1. August 1699 in Hamburg, † 22. Juli 1743), war evangelisch-lutherischer Pfarrer und Lieddichter. Hecker wurde als Sohn von Jacob Hecker geboren, der Hauptmann beim Bürgermilitär seiner Vaterstadt war und besuchte das Johanneum und ab 1717 des akademische Gymnasium in Hamburg. Im Jahr immatrikulierte er sich an die Universität in Leipzig, wo er 1721 das Magisterexamen ablegte. Kurze Zeit später wurde er Pfarrer an der Paulinerkirche, folgte dann aber 1724 einem Rufe des Reichsgrafen Friedrich von Seckendorff als Hauslehrer nach Meuselwitz bei Altenburg. Hier war er ab Substitut (Pfarrgehilfe) und dann Diakon (Zweiter Pfarrer), bis er im Jahr 1728 Pastor und Adjunct der Generalsuperintendentur und 1741 Hofprediger in Altenburg wurde. Heckers Werk besteht vor allem aus regional-historischen Werken über Meuselwitz und benachbarte Orte; besonders ist er bekannt geworden durch die 1730 herausgegebene 'Seckendorf'sche Handpostille', eine Predigtsammlung über alle Evangelien des Kirchenjahres, in der jeder der 75 Predigten ein Kirchenlied beigegeben ist, in welchem der Hauptinhalt der jeweiligen Predigt zusammengefasst wird. Von diesen Liedern fanden viele in evangelische Gesangbücher Aufnahme. Sein bekanntestes Lied ist ein Sonntagslied mit 13 Strophen und heißt 'Herr, mein Licht, erleuchte mich'.

Jean-Claude and Véro, 2 urbexers I met in Luxembourg some times ago, will be exposing some of their work during the fourth edition of the Konscht um Bau, on 22nd and 23rd of november in Garlich, Luxembourg.
The Konscht um Bau brings together 9 artists from several kinds of art from sculpture to wood turning, including of course photography, for what could be a very diversified and interesting event.
