Reeds struggle against the wind while the water gets choppy at Steepbank Wilderness Resort North of Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada.
I love the way the Kodachrome captured the colours of this scene. So I have a few variations of it to share. I couldn't choose just my favourite.
A forest fire was threatening the resort during my stay at Steepbank Lake. We were on alert to evacuate via helicopter, should the need arise. We were not evacuated, but we did need to drive around the fire on our way home. It ended up that the forest all around the lodge did burn, but the lodge was saved.

A back alley in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
In Calgary, they are still fond of developing residential neighbourhoods with back alleyways for parking, pedestrian use, and refuse collection.
It was a system that I was not used to, and it's annoying because they are not cleared of snow in the wintertime. However, they do improve the curb-side appeal of a home.

Yet another Charity Shop purchase.
I've been following the still-life work of Antonio Iacobelli (www.flickr.com/photos/jacoboson/) and I found the "3D" work quite fascinating. This is an attempt (rather poor): not as easy as it looks. Getting the angles right is not easy.

Snow fall upon a suburban boulevard in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
This is one of those shots from the beginning of the roll that you just aren't sure if they are going to turn out. I.e number zero or double-zero. Perhaps you pull out too much of the leader when loading the film? Perhaps not? I always took a couple of safety shots like this, just to be sure that I didn't ruin a more precious photo. I think that with digital, many of these moments are lost. In this photo, I love the delicate streaks of the wet snow falling in the foreground of the street.

A residential street in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I lived at the corner of 48 St. and 32 Ave. NW in Calgary, AB. Calgary uses an intelligent grid system, so that one can "easily" find any address, just from the street name and house number. Unfortunately, stubborn geography often got in the way. At this intersection 48 St. magically turned into 50 St. when you crossed 32 Ave. So people driving West on 32 Ave. would not be able to find the house, since the house numbers would jump over the whole block that contained my house. It was hell to order a pizza or call a cab. I always needed to wait at the window for them to call me after they couldn't find my place. Good times.
