Die beeindruckende Basilika Saint Nicolas hat die höchsten Säulen aller französischen Kirchen. Die verdrehten Säulen am Querhaus messen 28 m, das Gewölbe 32 m. Wie man sehen kann hat das Langhaus einen deutlichen Knick, was wahrscheinlich auf die beengten Bauverhältnisse zurück zu führen ist.
Auf der Ostbahn herscht leider nur noch ein geringer Güterverkehr. Denoch gibt es einige feste Leistungen. So zog 232 092 den "Knicker" von Kostrzyn nach Berlin, von wo er aus mit einer E-Lok weiter gen Süden fährt. Kurz vor der Durchfahrt von Herrensee
Die Kombination aus Schnee und einem stärkeren Wind sorgt in Schleswig-Holstein oft trotz geringer Schneemengen für beachtliche Verwehungen.
Die Knicklandschaft für die der Norden so berühmt ist kann dies teilweise verhindern.
So fängt sich der aufgewirbelt Schnee im Wind an den Erhöhungen des Knicks und sammelt sich dort.
So kann es sein das auf den Feldern kaum weiße Pracht liegt die Ränder jedoch zugeweht sind.
Ein Beispiel stellte dieses Feld östlich von Wasbek da wo sich das Chaospulver schön im Knick gesammelt hat.

I like this mood of transporting itself in time that small interior fittings can create.
Our kitchen table is now bare as Georgina could not keep her furry little paws off my tchotchkies ... sigh.
Maybe one day when she has developed a few manners they will be allowed back :)
I made this in High school. It is a piece of teak from the spoke of a ships tiller wheel that I cut at an angle. The cross is made of shavings from filing a bone and mixing the bone dust with epoxy then filling the cross shape I had carved out. After hardening, it was sanded and sanded and polished. I made the shelf it sits on also, but you can't really see that to well... : )
