Erlenzeisig, Girlitz oder Goldammer
Gelb ja gelb sind alle meine Kleider: Das haben alle drei Vögel gemein, doch bei genauem Hinschauen lassen sich klare Unterschiede erkennen: Die Goldammer ist warm gelb gefärbt und weist für die Ammerart typische Streifen im Gesicht auf, während Erlenzeisig und Girlitz ein eher gelb-grünliches Gefieder tragen.

Siskin, Goldfinch or Yellowhammer
Yellow yes yellow are all my clothes: all three birds have this in common, but a closer look reveals clear differences: The yellowhammer is warm yellow in colour and has stripes on its face typical of the bunting species, while the siskin and the serin have more yellow-greenish plumage.

Als Hewlett-Packard mit der Entwicklung des HP-35 als erstem technisch-wissenschaftlichen Rechner begann, wurden die maximal zulässigen Abmessungen von 5.8x3.2 Zoll (ca. 147x81mm), so Wikipedia, von Firmen-Mitbegründer Bill Hewlett höchstpersönlich entsprechend der Grösse seiner Hemdentasche vorgegeben. Gut fünfzig Jahre später funktioniert das auch mit meiner Hemdentasche. (Dabei muss fairerweise noch gesagt werden, dass der Rechner auch noch etwas tiefer in der Tasche stecken könnte.)

When Hewlett-Packard began developing the HP-35 as the first technical-scientific calculator, the maximum allowable dimensions of 5.8x3.2 inches (approx. 147x81mm) were, according to Wikipedia, specified by company co-founder Bill Hewlett himself according to the size of his shirt pocket. A good fifty years later, this also works with my shirt pocket. (It is fair to say that the calculator could also be placed a little deeper in the pocket).

Dieses Thema sprach mich gleich an, da ich ein Tupfenfreund bin, was meine Kleidung immer wieder deutlich zum Ausdruck bringt !
Ich wollte aber nicht schon wieder Kleidungsstücke von mir fotografieren (wie für: Blue for you). Daher habe ich nur die Tupfen verschiedener Kleider fotografiert und daraus diese Tüpfelmaus gebastelt, die hoffentlich ein Lächeln am Samstag für Euch bringt ...
This theme appealed to me right away, as I am a polka dot lover, which my clothes always clearly express !
But I didn't want to take a picture of my clothes again (like for: Blue for you). Therefore I photographed only the polka dots of different clothes and made this spotted mouse out of them, which hopefully will bring a smile on Saturday for you ...

Gelegentlich nimmt der Sekretär bei beruflichen Veranstaltungen die Rolle des «Hoffotografen» ein. Dann versucht er mal mehr und mal weniger erfolgreich, unsichtbar zu sein ohne sich zu verstecken, mittendrin zu sein und doch als Beobachter daneben zu stehen, und insgesamt dem grossen Vorbild Dr. Erich Salomon (1886 – 1944) nachzueifern, den etwa Arisitide Briand (1862 – 1932, französischer Politiker, Friedensnobelpreis 1926 gemeinsam mit Gustav Stresemann) spöttisch wie anerkennend als «Roi des indiscrets» bezeichnete (angeblich auf dem gezeigten Bild, als er ihn gerade entdeckt hatte).

"Clothes Make People (Kleider machen Leute)" is the title of a famous novella by by the Swiss writer Gottfried Keller (1819-1890) which was first published in 1874.
The story is about the journeyman tailor Wenzel Strapinski, who dresses well despite his poverty. He arrives in a foreign town called Goldach and is mistaken for a Polish count because of his appearance. After failing to clear up the confusion out of shyness, he tries to escape. But then a young lady, daughter of the magistrate, enters the scene. The two fall in love, whereupon the tailor continues to play the role of the count forced upon him. A spurned rival ensures that the supposed impostor is unmasked. A scandal breaks out at the engagement party. Strapinski flees, but his bride finds him, saves him from freezing to death and confronts him. When she is convinced that his love is genuine, she professes her love for him and enforces the marriage. Like every year I went also this year to the Flammende Sterne Festival and shot a few pictures for the photographers competition. This is one of my 3 pictures that I sent. Now I hope to win a prize, but I think I have to wait a few weeks more till the juros tell who the winner is.
Dieses Bild ist eine Premiere, und zwar in zweierlei Hinsicht: Es wurde [erstens] nicht vom Sekretär aufgenommen, und es zeigt [zweitens] den Sekretär.
Der Sekretär gehört eindeutig nicht zur «Generation Selfie» und sieht sich im Allgemeinen selbst nicht gerne auf Fotos. Wenn Portraits unvermeidbar sind, etwa in Firmenbroschüren oder bei einem Firmenausweis, versucht er stets, den Fotograf oder die Fotografin zu überreden, die Rollen zu tauschen – Zugegebener Massen bislang jedoch mit wenig Erfolg.
Doch dieses Bild, das von der Tochter des Sekretärs vor einigen Wochen aufgenommen wurde, scheint ihm akzeptabel und des Teilens Wert zu sein.

This picture is a debut in two respects: [firstly] it was not taken by Secretary, and it [secondly] shows Secretary.
Secretary does clearly not belong to the “generation selfie” and generally does not like to see himself on photographs. Were portraits are unavoidable, for example in the portrait of a company brochure or company ID, he always tries to convince the photographer to change roles – admittedly so far with little success, though.
However, this picture, taken by Secretary’s daughter a couple of weeks ago, seems acceptable and worth sharing.

Spring has finally arrived in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The trees are sporting fresh, young green foliage, and wood anemones are blooming everywhere in the forests and lowlands.
This anemone is impressive to me in that, up close, it seems to consist of nothing. The petals are as delicate and thin as a butterfly's wing.
As if they were the dresses of little fairies swaying in the breeze on the forest floor.
And despite their delicate appearance, they are so strong and robust that in spring they dominate entire meadows, stream banks, and forest clearings.
But only for two or three weeks. Then they disappear again for the rest of the year.
Der Frühling ist nun endlich final auch im Elbsandsteingebirge angekommen. Der Bäume tragen frisches junges Grün und überall in den Wäldern und Niederungen blühen die Buschwindröschen.
Diese Anemone ist für mich insofern beeindruckend, dass sie aus der Nähe betrachtet gefühlt aus nichts besteht. Die Blütenblätter sind so zart und dünn wie der Flügel eines Schmetterlings.
Als wären es die Kleider kleiner Feen, die sich da am Waldboden im Wind wiegen.
Und trotz ihrer filligranen Erscheinung sind sie so stark und robust, dass sie im Frühling ganze Wiesen, Bachufer und Waldlichtungen beherrschen.
Doch nur für zwei oder drei Wochen. Dann sind sie für den Rest Jahres wieder verschwunden.
