Kit flung open the door and BAM! The door hit Mrs. Howard, who was standing right inside with a silver tray in her hands.
OK, a deliberate pun! Another surprise find. I had no memory of this whatsoever, but this shows me in the "dining room" (really an alcove off the main living room) of No. 1 The Oval, in the process of putting together a plastic aircraft model kit. I would guess that I'm aged around seven years at this time. Going by the side of the box, it appears to be a FROG model, and it may be a Hawker Typhoon, but I can't tell for sure. The table is also not in its usual position of being parallel with the window in the backgroud, so I wonder whether my father staged the shot?
The black cube-like object on the sideboard behind me is a Sanyo quarter-inch reel-to-reel tape recorder -- it still exists! They seemed to be a popular consumer item at the time, and many of my friends' parents seemed to have similar models in their homes. The circular table mat also looks familiar.
mais um kit....esse está para adoção!!

The pride and joy of all model builders is their stash. As you can see I have a few waiting to be built.
The "Wirbelwind" flak-panzer is a commission job for the same person who gave me the M24 grenade replica.
I also have two Tiger 1 kits, one will be built as Tank 205 which was Michael Wittmann's tank in the famous Villers-Bocage battle (Tamiya kit).
The other will be built as Tiger 007, a command tank also commanded by Wittmann in which he and his crew died in action in August 1944.
The 55 Chevy has also been started, just got to take some pics of it.

Part of my humble disaster preparedness kit. Wind-up radio (Eton FR300) is operated by a hand-crank. It can also charge cel phone. It comes with carrying case that's got a comfortable handle (and has light and siren, too). Bought stove and food the day after Loma Prieta quake. I'd just moved into a new place, and I seriously (seriously!) meant to buy earthquake supplies "tomorrow" before an earthquake happened in northern half of state today. How long will the dried food last?
