Looking for Help

Mom and three kits were caught on camera almost every night in our backyard. Mom and one of her kits stopped showing up. Concerned for the two little ones left behind (and visible on camera) I called the Fish and Wildlife Dept. When I told them mom and one kit had been gone for two weeks, I was told mom was probably NOT coming back, that she was either dead or trapped. After speaking to them we decided to let nature take it's course. Eventually, they would leave on their own.

Well, I am really relieved to say after over 3 weeks mom and the other kit are back with the two left behind. The three little ones were rolling around in the yard as if they were happy to see each other...and all four walking the fence line with mom in the lead! (Now I can sleep better!)

I appreciate your visit and so grateful for your comments/faves!

Red Fox kit

This Kit and several other Kits had been hanging out in a dirt pile in my back yard and this part was cool, I got to take photos of them while I was sitting in the house!

Even foxes look at the same thing in different ways

Sitting and watching the photographer, a fox kit enjoys a warm summer day. This kit was probably born in April, so it is about 3 months old. Summer is short and in another month, this kit will be full grown and out hunting on its own.

I always thought children grew up to fast, and we have them in our care for between 15 and 20 years. A fox kit is born and on its own in less than 4 months.

Injured after a fight

Enjoying the warmth of the morning light.

Taken near Jackson, Wyoming. These were wild not captive.

Active Red Squirrel Kit, North Yorkshire.

I had created a completely different image for this week's theme (which I've also posted), but when I looked at the 2 next to each other, this one made me smile more. :)

The kitten is a very kitsch plastic brooch from the 1960s. The pink flower came from a plant on my kitchen window sill. No idea what type it is, but it created a nice contrast. :)

Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!

Kits at den site, Ridge Reservoir. Lethbridge, AB.

There were four fox kits playing outside the den...these two were too tired to continue...Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, Canada

Being near wildlife over an extended period of time builds a trust between the subject and the photographer. After visiting an Arctic Fox den for a few weeks, the kits became accustomed to the clicking of the photographer's camera. In this photo, this kit was sleeping while the photographer sat about 10 feet away. When he awoke, he simply looked at the camera a few moments, stretched and walked off into his den.

Thank you for viewing

I grabbed the camera just as this little guy started looking over at my apartment. Pictured through a fly screen window, I think I got its undivided attention.

He / she is such a cute little kitten. Pity about the fly screen, but what can you do.
