SENEGAMBIA most common and widespread woodpecker regularly heard tapping, feeds low, and occasionally descends to the ground. A loud and typically rapid shrill and far-carrying peet-peet-peet, this one looks like he was drying out from a bathing session, as a bit of an unkept look about him.

Such strength in small things. Jewellery wire is so delicate, but it is tough and durable and keeps these teeny weeny beads and other larger bling together.
Creating bracelets, necklaces and earrings is such a wonderful and therapeutic hobby. Much like when we take photographs, we become completely engrossed in our subject matter and all cares fall away for the time being.
I hope you have a carefree week. HMM everyone!

We came across this Black-Crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) just off the trail at Circle B Bar Reserve (CBBR) near Lakeland, Florida. Initially, he appeared to be sleeping but then he opened his left eye. It may be that one way birds lose body heat is through their beaks. This guy seems to be keeping his beak warm by tucking it under his feathers. He measures 23-28 inches (58-70 cm) from beak-tip to tail-tip.

It doesn’t take a complicated subject with a busy background or foreground to capture my attention. Beauty can be as easy as some might say “Keeping It Simple,” Beauty can speak to us in its most basic form, simplicity. Thanks for viewing my work. Gratitude and Kindness can also be simple.
Hope everyone's keeping well. Many thanks for all the very kind comments, faves and follows. They are very much appreciated.

Fledgling owl and adult cozy up.
This is the first GHO nest of the season for me. I got some info that there is at least one other family nearby. I've seen as many as three active GHO nests in this area. Great fun to watch the fledglings develop their strength and courage to move about in the trees.
