On Sunday 17th Feb, twenty Mosman residents participated in the Kayak Mosman event, part of the Living Mosman series of workshops and events.
Participants had the opportunity to view the Mosman foreshore from a different perspective, kayaking around Mosman Bay, Little Sirius Bay, Athol Bay, Taylors Bay and Chowder Bay.
It was a beautiful sunny day where participants learnt about our local marine environment and some of the actions Council have implemented to protect this precious environment.

The kayaks we were in had clear, plexiglass bottoms. It was interesting to observe the saline swimming by below us. (Also, I am aware of how bad the sunburn on my legs looks. I have abad habit of forgetting sunscreen...)
Kayaking on a private lake on a cloudless night. It provided a wonderful chance to watch the stars and get away from it all. Light painted the kayak with a small flashlight.
I think there's between 2-3 hours of work left (almost five spars on each half) on covering the bottom now. That means it takes 9-10 hours to cover the bottom with spars. We will see what it ends up at when I'm done. Then it will be interesting to see how long it will take on the other canoe.
Kayakers were out in great numbers on the Maumee River today, egrets not so much. Those that attended were quite shy, and much moreso than last year (egrets, that is, the kayakers were quite talkative).
Rainbow Springs / Rainbow River -- Dunnellon, Florida
This is a picture of my parents actually kayaking down Rainbow River in a rare double wide kayak.
NOT! There is no way that my parents would even attempt such an act! Actually, Mike combined two pictures that we took on our day trip to Dunnellon -- The background shot was taken by my dad and the picture of my parents was a picture I had taken of them sitting on a bench earlier that day. We have always liked this picture for the crystal clear spring water and the colorful kayaks. How else would I convince my parents to get in a kayak!
