The beauty of Kashmir can not be described in words or encapsulated by any image . Only the eyes in physical presence deserve to see the real beauty of this mystic land. A land of mountains , valleys , rivers , glaciers , wilderness and dense pine forests with unparalleled beauty.

Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face

With stars to fill my dreams

I am a traveler of both time and space

To be where I have been

Sit with elders of the gentle race

This world has seldom seen

Talk of days for which they sit and wait

All will be revealed

Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace

Whose sounds caress my ear

But not a word I heard could I relate

The story was quite clear

Oh, oh

Oh, oh

Ooh, baby, I been flying

No yeah, mama, there ain't no denying

Oh, ooh, yeah I've been flying

Mama, mama, ain't no denying, no denying

Oh, all I see turns to brown

As the sun burns the ground

And my eyes fill with sand

As I scan this wasted land

Trying to find, trying to find, where I've been

Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace

Like thoughts inside a dream

Here is the path that led me to that place

Yellow desert stream

My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon

I will return again

Sure as the dust that floats high in June

When moving through Kashmir

Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails

Across the sea of years

With no provision but an open face

Along the straits of fear

Oh, oh

Oh, oh

Ooh

Oh, when I'm on, when I'm on my way, yeah

When I see, when I see the way, you stay-yeah

Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when I'm down

Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, but I'm down, so down

Ooh, my baby, ooh, my baby, let me take you there

Oh come on, oh, let me take you there... let me take you there

Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, let me take you there... let me take you there

Great Orme Royal Welsh.

These Kashmir Goats have come to occupy the slopes of the Great Orme.

Adopted by the Welsh Guards (Fusiliers) as a serving soldier (not a mascot).

My dad was in this regiment during WW II.

.. They are rather smelly

Sonamarg (Hindi pronunciation: [soːnaːmərɡ]) or Sonmarg (Urdu pronunciation: [soːnmərg]), Originally known as Sonamarag 'meadow of gold'in Kashmir.,( due carpet of Yellow Flowers in the region) is a hill station located 80 kilometres (50 mi) northeast of the capital city, Srinagar. North India

Sonamarg gives rise to the 'Three Sisters'—a group of rivers (the Lidder, Sind and Neelum) that run parallel to each other .

Sonamarg provides trekking routes leading to Vishansar Lake, Krishansar Lake, Gangabal Lake and Gadsar Lake in the Himalayas, also njoy the snowtrout and brown trout.

Thajiwas Glacier is a barely 50 minute trek, on a well made road from the taxi drop. The route is scenic & picturesque.

Ponies are also available.

My recent visit to Kashmir in March 2011

Bagh was part of the Poonch province in the Dogra days. After 1947 it became a sub-division (Thesil) of the Poonch district only to become a district in its own right in 1988. Linked to Muzaffarabad by two roads, one via Sudhan Gali (80Km) and the other through Kohala (97Km). It is situated 46Km from Rawalakot. Bagh is well known for its confectionery and bakery products.

Kashmir Great Lakes is one of the most beautiful treks in India. No question. It validates Kashmir’s mythical status as heaven on earth.

Talk in song from tongues of lilting grace

Sounds caress my ear

And not a word I heard could I relate

The story was quite clear

Oh, baby, I been blind

Oh, yeah, mama, there ain't no denyin'

Oh, ooh yes, I been blind

Mama, mama, ain't no denyin', no denyin'

-Led Zeppelin, '"Kashmir'

I've been hearing this song a lot lately because reasons, and felt the urge to try to capture the... hrm. The way that the song makes me imagine a hazy, late-afternoon golden-hour sort of lighting. Since Kashmir is part of Pakistan and India (contested between the two nations and partitioned in that uniquely British late-Empire sort of way they did to people who weren't British), it struck me that hey- Zaara's beautiful main shop would be a good setting to play with light settings.

I did a fair bit of photoshop work on this one, though the real work was done with windlights and haze horizon/density settings.

The jacket's from Toksik and is named "Tussle' (and is available for a few male and female body types!); the hair's from Argrace and is named 'Shirogane'.

What I presume to be Codonopsis ovata (poss clematidea) (Bonnet bellflower, Kashmir bellflower, Asian bellflower), at dusk in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.

It was the delicately patterned interiors which got my interest, once I got down to peer up inside one. Not really something that lends itself to photographing as I don't think I can incluse that detail in a generally pleasing composition. I was nonetheless on a lookout for a composition that at least incorporated the much more unassuming exterior, so one evening at sunset I got this.

This is straight out of camera, not edited / cropped or sharpened for low-res social media platforms.
