Langjökulll (Icelandic for "long glacier") is the second largest ice cap in Iceland. It currently covers about 368 square miles (953 km2). This photo shows the edge of the glacier and glacial till. Water in the foreground is meltwater from the glacier. On the extreme left of the photo and off in the distance, Richard and Nate talk glaciology.
The photograph was taken at Kalki Basecamp on the west side of the glacier where large trucks take visitor on to the glacier for tours, snowmobile tours, and access to the manmade ice tunnel near the basecamp. Because of moulins and crevasses travel on a glacier is hazardous. A moulin or glacier mill is a roughly circular, vertical to nearly vertical well-like shaft within a glacier or ice sheet which water enters from the surface. Large vehicles with large tires are able to cross small crevasses or moulins which could open up on the ice. At the edge the ice is thin but thickens to over 1,900 feet. The highest point of the ice cap at the northern end of Langjökull is about 4,760 feet (1,450 meters) in elevation above sea level. The sounds on the edge of the ice cap are amazing. One can hear running water blended in with wind in a symphony of sound.

I think I'll remember Auroville by smell - Kalki (if I remember right) is a boutique with the most colourful, sweet smelling stuff you will ever see/smell.

I really didn't know what to expect from the "Into The Glacier Tunnel". I was afraid it might be a nondescript hole in the ice with hokey LED lighting that would not be worth the tour fee. However the tunnel really turned out to be a view into the anatomy of a glacier . The tunnel and lighting showed the stratification and structure of the glacial ice. The tunnel intersected moulins, crevasses and streamlets inside the glacier giving the visitor a look at the morphology of a glacier. The tunnel is located on the western side of Langjökull, a glacier in central Iceland.

The Indian culture can be seen on her earrings Kalki from Zaara and Lyla Bindi from Moondance. Walking on the runway like The Asian Queen with the red Goddess Touch Halo from CURELESS, to mixed with floating lanterns and lotus from CA making her more resemble like an elegance fantasy queen.

LED lights behind an ice wall in the "Into the Glacier Tunnel" shows the layering in the glacial ice in Langjökull (Icelandic for "long glacier"). The tunnel allows visitors to view glacial structures from inside the glacier. Langjökull is the second largest ice cap in Iceland and currently covers about 368 square miles (953 km2).

Buddha as Dasha Aavatara (10th Incarnation) of Lord Vishnu in the Hindu Dharma. After Buddha this is called the "Kali Yuga" or "Age of Ignorance" which will end with the coming of Kalki. This rock carvings are from 1027 AD in Pattan Gujarath, India in 3-4 tier step well, there are also carvings of the other Vishnu Avataras all 10 of them.
Dasaavathaara (10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu) depicted on the Raja gopuram (Main Entrance Tower).
Here is first five avathar (incarnation): Mathsya (Fish), Koorma (Tortoice), Varaaha (Boar), Narasimha (Half man half lion), Vaamana (short stature brahmin)!
One interesting aspect here is that the order of avathar is from right to left and not the usual left to right one!!!!

Rani ki vav is an intricately constructed stepwell situated in the town of Patan in Gujarat, India. It was included in the list of UNESCO's World Heritage Site on 22 June 2014. Rani ki vav, or Ran-ki vav (Queen’s step well) was constructed during 11th century AD during the rule of the Solanki dynasty. This magnificent east facing step well measures approximately 64m long, 20m wide & 27m deep. A stepped corridor compartmented at regular intervals with pillared multi-storeyed pavilions is a unique feature. It was one of the largest and the most sumptuous structures of its type. It became silted up and much of it is not visible now, except for some rows of sculptured panels in the circular part of the well.Most of the sculptures are in devotion to Vishnu, in the forms of Dus-Avatars Kalki, Rama, Mahisasurmardini, Narsinh, Vaman, Varahi and others representing their return to the world. Nagkanya, Yogini beautiful women - Apsara showcasing 16 different styles of make-up to look more attractive called Solah-shringar.
My newly acquired Samyang 14mm lens has performed quite well in taking this shot by covering a really wide area in its ambit. However slight barrel distortion and some softness in the extreme corners can be seen , quite typical of the ultra-wide angle lenses.
This is a long time & life time wish to portray this beautiful piece of art through my vision, even though this beauty had clicked, painted in many forms.
