CPKC’s Mexico Midwest Express, or train 181, slamming the diamonds in Savanna while the power for K60(?) lays over for the weekend
Every time I had visited the town beforehand, CP had absolutely nothing going on. This time, I managed to luck out with a K60 working as a yard job. Some cars needed to be moved off the main and into the yard, and the only way to do that was to pull past West Savanna and shove all the way back. Here, a pair of ecos are making the shove to the yard at Savanna, while the head end is still poking out on the Iowa side at Sabula.
Direct nadat Europorte met 10 minuten vervroeging te Sassegnies gepasseerd was, werd meteen de auto in gesprongen om zo snel mogelijk in Berlaimont te geraken. Vanuit Lille was namelijk een TER onderweg welke zou moeten rijden met een BB22000, beter bekend als de welbekende Nèz-Cassé. Het betrof een BB22000 in de Nord-Pas de Calais kleurstelling met de bijbehorende VR2n dubbeldijksrijtuigen welke van dezelfde kleurstelling zijn voorzien. Normaal gesproken zijn deze treinen de hele dag te zien op de verbinding tussen Lille-Flandres en Maubeuge, maar door werken vallen overdag bijna alle ritten uit waardoor dit nagenoeg de enige rit met Nèz-Cassé is die je goed voor de zon kunt fotograferen. We hadden via google maps en een cabinerit een mogelijke stek gevonden net buiten Berlaimont, echter stonden er wel een paar bosjes eng dichtbij het spoor dus het was überhaupt te hopen dat de stek begaanbaar was.
Na iets meer dan vijf minuten rijden waren we dan aan de oost-west verbinding in het noorden van Frankrijk beland en werden we positief verrast toen we zagen dat de stek zowaar volledig was vrij gesnoeid. Zelfs de bosjes die in eerste instantie voor mogelijke problemen konden gaan zorgen waren met de grond gelijk gemaakt. Wat resteerde waren nog enkel kleine stammetjes wat ooit flinke bosjes moesten voorstellen. Al snel werd er een goede positie ingenomen en vervolgens hoefden we niet lang te wachten totdat de overwegbellen begonnen te rinkelen. Als eerste was het de tegentrein, welke bestond uit een treinstel van de serie Z24500. Daarna bleef de overweg gesloten en was het getoeter van de Nèz-Cassé in de verte al te horen, welke enkele seconden later aan de horizon verscheen.
Het is 8:30 als de SNCF 22284 met TER K60 (841805) te Berlaimont passeert onderweg vanuit Lille-Flandres naar Maubeuge. Een redelijke zeldzaamheid was de graffiti op de rijtuigen en zelfs op de locomotief. De tags op de locomotief waren gelukkig redelijk simpel te verwijderen, maar de overige kunstwerken waren te lastig om weg te halen. Vanuit Berlaimont reden we vervolgens weer terug naar Sassegnies om daar de TER met Corail vanuit Paris-Nord naar Maubeuge vast te leggen, word dus weer vervolgd ;)

RFA PROTEUS (K60) on the River Mersey after departing Cammell Laird ship yard on March 12, 2024.
RFA PROTEUS is a Multi Role Ocean Surveillance Ship (MROSS) which can function as a platform for Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles (ROUVs) and a testbed for new specialist capabilities, required for monitoring waters important to UK interests.
Acquired in 2023, the ship entered drydock at Cammell Laird for modification andformally entered service in October 2023.
The ship was formerly named MV TOPAZ TANGAROA in 2017–2022, and was used as a platform supply vessel operated by P&O Maritime Logistics.
The vessel was refitted after being sold to the U.K. Ministry of Defence in January 2023.
She was built jointly between Vard Brattvaag, Norway and Tulcea shipyard in Romania and weighs 6,133 GRT. Maximum speed is 14 knots.

Stopped by the lake to practice my drone skills before the weather turns nasty (well wind is ... and heat ... ).
I visited the lake a few weeks ago noticing several beautiful young cygnets with their adoring parents. Walked the shore after landing the drone finding at least two families with four healthy nearly mature cygnets each. And countless other adults. The one pair were near enough for me to notice they were tagged P43 (Female) and K60 (Male). Updated on the database. The lake is also extraordinarily popular with many other birds.

Leider wurde es schon dunkel aber zum Glück hatten wir LED-Lampen dabei. Die wurden für Gegen- und Seitenlicht eingesetzt (Seitenlicht Acebeam K60, Rücklicht Nitecore P36 mit Aufsteckdiffusor). Samsung NX1 mit 60mm-Makro, f2,8, ISO 800.

Die blaue Federlibelle (Platycnemis pennipes) wird etwa 4cm lang und lebt 2 - 3 Monate.

Also, my NS Kill_U 1st was sitting in the closet for this one, but because the initial goal was to compare Keikei (the most recent release from K-doll) with the other heads.

21-8-25. Sydney trains operated 80's built Goninan K sets K65 & K60 are spotted as they come to a halt at Burwood on run 44-K bound for Leppington.
As of the making of this post, an estimated 7 K sets have been withdrawn from active service, with the remainder of the fleet destine for retirement in the near future with the beginning of the Oscar fleets conversion to suburban use as D sets take over their role on the Central & South coast.
