Snowy egrets eat mostly aquatic prey, which include crustaceans. This particular snowy got really lucky catching this whopper shrimp.
Had to parboil the Shrimp and reserve the liquid for the Risotto,

A very difficult plant to photograph! Its seed head resembles that of a jumbo dandelion, with seeds attached to reversed parachutes to carry them far and wide. The photo problem is finding a pattern that isn't totally confusing visually. One can always step back and shoot the entire puffball, but I've done that. This is an experiment to see what else may be possible.
One more macro flower shot after this, and then a brief foray into the six-legged world.

A useful tip for boiling Shrimp, put your frozen Shrimp in a pot cover with cold water and when the water starts to boil pull them off the fire,

Jumbo Jubilee is a Heavy Lift Vessel that sails under the flag of the Netherlands and even though we all see the obvious subject of the photo, for me what really makes it it's the silhouette of the Monument to Christ (Cristo Rei) in the background. Probably many of you don't know that the Monument was built in 1959 as a thanks to God for sparing Portugal from the horrors of World War II. I have to confess that only today I learned this, while trying to figure out how the statue was named in English.

For the Macro Mondays Theme; Swag
I don't even take most of the little free swag things, because 9 times out of 10 it ends up in the trash. It doesn't work, it breaks quickly, it's ugly, or it's just of no use to you. A shopping cart coin is something that works for me, so it hangs on my keyring by default. Jumbo is one of the larger supermarket chains in Holland. "Hello Jumbo" is their slogan, like greeting one of your best friends.
