Nella parte inferiore della prospiciente montagna del Sacrificio ,c'è il teatro Nabateo capace di 7000 persone che è orientato verso est per trarre maggior beneficio dalla luce mattutina . Molte cappelle furono demolite per la sua realizzazione . Il teatro fu realizzato per celebrazioni comprese quelle religiose ,l'altare fu scoperto al centro del Teatro .Il Teatro fu ampliato dai Romani dopo la presa di Traiano . I Nabatei scolpirono la roccia ,mentre i Romani costruirono con blocchi di pietra .Questo è l'unico teatro scolpito nella Pietra .

In the lower part of the facing mountain of sacrifice ,there is the Nabataean theatre capable of 7000 people and is oriented to the east to benefit more for the morning light .
Many chapels were demolished for its realisation .The theatre was built for celebrations including religious ones ,the altar was discovered in the center of the theatre .It was enlarged by the Romans after the capture of Trajan .The Nabataeans carved the rock ,while the Romans built in the stone blocks .
This is the only stone theatre in the world .
UNESCO world heritage site .
Jerash : The oval square of the Forum ,with the Ionic columns surmounted by an unbroken line of tripartite architraves .We also see the south Gate and the staircase leading up to the Temple of Zeus .

Acadia National Park is mostly located on Mount Desert Island, the largest island off the coast of Maine. It is rich in coastal scenery. With a record of 338 bird species encountered, Acadia National Park is considered one of the premier bird-watching areas in the country. www.nps.gov/acad/learn/nature/birds.htm
The Jordan Pond Gatehouse and its counterpart, Brown Mountain Gatehouse, guard the entrance to Acadia's historic carriage roads with the intention of preventing automobiles from entering. In 1931, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. commissioned New York architect Grosvenor Atterbury in association with John Thompkins to design the elaborate gatehouses and gatekeepers' residences. Attenbury attempted in the design to recall the island's colonial heritage, choosing a highly picturesque style reminiscent of the provincial architecture of the Le Puis district in France. After their completion in 1932, Rockefeller donated both gatehouses to Acadia National Park. The lodges were to house the respective gatekeepers. Construction of the two gate lodges on Mount Desert Island provided many local men a job during the depression.
Jordan’s an ancient land with a rich history, but the modern history of Petra is equally as fascinating. The city was lost to Europeans until 1812 when Johann Ludwig Burckhardt found the valley inhabited by semi-nomadic Bedouins. That is why Petra is often called the Lost City. Archeological studies began in earnest in 1929 and continue today.
People come to see the buildings carved from sandstone in relief, like the Treasury, which is why Petra is called the Rose City. This ancient and powerful Nabataean Kingdom that rivaled the power of a Decapolis City. During the Roman formation of Judea and only came under Roman rule 200 years later when the emperor Trajan annexed Arabia.
(wikipedia) ll fiume Giordano nasce dal Monte Hermon (2700 m), sul confine libano-siriano, è lungo 320 km ed attraversa Libano, Siria, Giordania, Israele e Palestina. Nasce dalla congiunzione dei fiumi Hasbani, Banyas e Dan.
Raggiunge il Lago di Tiberiade (o di Genezareth, biblico Mare di Galilea) e sfocia nel Mar Morto, a 397 m circa sotto il livello del mare, percorrendo la vallata del Gohr, scorrendo in una fossa tettonica collegabile al sistema di fosse dell'Africa orientale.
Il fiume Yarmuk è il suo più importante tributario.
La sua portata d'acqua è molto diminuita in questi anni, a causa dello sfruttamento delle acque (sue e dello Yarmuk). Mediamente porta alla foce nel Mar Morto meno di 30 metri cubi al secondo, con piene che, tuttavia, possono superare i 300 metri cubi al secondo. Petra, originally known to the Nabataeans as Raqmu, is a historical and archaeological city in southern Jordan. The city is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. Another name for Petra is the Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved.
Established possibly as early as 312 BC as the capital city of the Arab Nabataeans. The Nabataeans were nomadic Arabs who took advantage of Petra's proximity to regional trade routes to establish it as a major trading hub. The Nabataeans are also known for their great ability in constructing efficient water-collecting methods in the barren deserts and their talent in carving structures into solid rocks. Petra lies on the slope of Jebel al-Madhbah (identified by some as the biblical Mount Hor) in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.
The site remained unknown to the Western world until 1812, when it was introduced by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt.

First image in a while, going back through my albums to this one a couple years ago when i visited on of the 7 Wonders of the World, Petra in Jordan. An amazing place!
