No trip to Jordan would be complete without visiting this wonder of the world and it did not disappoint! It was the one day in our schedule that was free and we made the best of it. Here, a panoramic view of the valley with the Petra Theater straight ahead where the people are walking, you can see the seating carved into the hillside. The theater was built by the Nabataean in the first century AD.

Wadi Rum is a protected desert wilderness in southern Jordan almost 300 Km South of Amman city (The Capital of Jordan). It features dramatic sandstone mountains and Natural Arches. Many prehistoric inscriptions and carvings line rocky caverns and steep chasms. The natural water source of Lawrence’s Spring is named after British Lieutenant Lawrence of Arabia, who allegedly washed there.
Wadi Rum in Jordan was used for filming the external scenes as the surface of Planet Mars in the Hollywood movie (The Martian) and many other movies.

Thank you for visiting, and for your kind comments and faves. They are greatly appreciated!
After a hike around Jordan Pond in Acadia, I went down the stream path to a cobble stone bridge. This was along the way.

Early Morning on Jordan Pond.
The sun is just beginning to rise over a placid Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park on a beautiful cool morning. The fall colors are giving one last gasp of color before changing over for the season. At the far end of the pond the Bubbles can be seen overlooking the oligotrophic tarn. Oligotrophic tarn is the classification given to Jordan Pond due to its lack of nutrients for aquatic life, as well as its deep, crystal clear, waters. Jordan Pond is one of the iconic Acadia National Park views. The Bubbles have been photographed over and over again from this locale. It's not hard to see why this spot is so beloved in the park. The mountain peaks of Pemetic to the right, and Penobscot to the left, provide a natural frame to the North and South Bubbles at the head of the pond. Jordan Pond is a distinct feature in Acadia, and well worth photographing. The prior evening we hiked the Bubbles for sunset, and I can't wait to share those photos soon.
Thanks for looking and enjoy!
One of the most peaceful spots I found while in Maine was Jordan Pond in the Acadia National Park. There is a great trail that goes entirely around the pond with gorgeous views at each clearing. In this shot, you can see "The Bubbles", two small mountains that overlook Jordan Pond, in the background.
