No trip to Jordan would be complete without visiting this wonder of the world and it did not disappoint! It was the one day in our schedule that was free and we made the best of it. Here, a panoramic view of the valley with the Petra Theater straight ahead where the people are walking, you can see the seating carved into the hillside. The theater was built by the Nabataean in the first century AD.

Wadi Rum is a protected desert wilderness in southern Jordan almost 300 Km South of Amman city (Capital of Jordan). It features dramatic sandstone mountains and Natural Arches. Many prehistoric inscriptions and carvings line rocky caverns and steep chasms. The natural water source of Lawrence’s Spring is named after British Lieutenant Lawrence of Arabia, who allegedly washed there.
Wadi Rum in Jordan was used for filming the external scenes as the surface of Planet Mars in the Hollywood movie (The Martian) and many other movies.

Thank you for visiting, and for your kind comments and faves. They are greatly appreciated!
After a hike around Jordan Pond in Acadia, I went down the stream path to a cobble stone bridge. This was along the way.
Evening hours at Jordan Lake as the sun was setting. The lake was very calm. It was perfect time to experiment with slightly longer shutter speeds than normal to smooth out the water.
Once again many thanks for visits, comments and faves, much appreciated!
Excerpt from Wikipedia:
Petra, originally known to the Nabataeans as Raqmu, is a historical and archaeological city in southern Jordan. The city is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. Another name for Petra is the Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved.
Established possibly as early as 312 BC as the capital city of the Arab Nabataeans. The Nabataeans were nomadic Arabs who took advantage of Petra's proximity to regional trade routes to establish it as a major trading hub. The Nabataeans are also known for their great ability in constructing efficient water-collecting methods in the barren deserts and their talent in carving structures into solid rocks. Petra lies on the slope of Jebel al-Madhbah (identified by some as the biblical Mount Hor) in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.
The site remained unknown to the Western world until 1812, when it was introduced by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt.
Nome in ebraico: נהר הירדן (significa scendere, andare giù)
Nome in arabo: نهر الأردن
Fortunate to catch a good partly cloudy sky with a colorful sunset at Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park. The hills in the middle of the photo are known as "The Bubbles".

First image in a while, going back through my albums to this one a couple years ago when i visited on of the 7 Wonders of the World, Petra in Jordan. An amazing place!

Well finally haha. I’ve seen several similar shots out there but I don’t care. I finally got to see Neowise with a fairly clear sky. Brought my wife and a couple of kids along on a round the pond midnight trek and they proved to be great cloud repellant. Also nice to have the company when the loons started yelling.
I don’t think a description is needed. There’s the Bubbles. There’s the comet!
