Jonny Walker at the British Sprint Enduro Championship (BSEC).

Extreme weather condition delivered an explosive season opener. Under a blanket of snow and chilling temperatures of -10 degrees prior to the start, the opening two rounds delivered some thrilling racing action and close fought battles.

Shooting Information:

Shot with Olympus E-620, 50-200mm

Wireless trigger: Yongnuo CTR-301P (modified battery wire to increase range and compatibility with the Olympus FL-36R Flash)

Flash: Yongnuo Speedlite YN560 set at half power, diffused.

Flash Placement: I use an adjustable ball head attached to either a modified fishing bank pole or a heavy duty (A) clip. As most tracks are lined with posts or trees its a quick and light weight option. www.flickr.com/photos/gogovisual/6876702865/in/photostream

The Flash was placed on the out side of the corner around 2M in front from the subject.

I was about 6 meters up the track on the left of the subject, laid flat and shooting from under the track tape.

Goal: My photographs are all taken during full race conditions, so I have to respect the riders and the job they are doing. So I try to keep the setup low key and only use low diffused light to fill in facial area.
