Apostle Andrew in Christianity is one of the twelve apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is known that he was born in Bethsaida into the family of a Jewish fisherman, Jonah.
Andrew the First-Called accompanied the Lord during sermons as one of his closest disciples, and was present at the Holy Supper, Crucifixion and Resurrection. Together with other disciples, he received the Holy Spirit during Pentecost.
He preached Christianity in the east of the Roman Empire and was probably a missionary in the Scythian lands.
The Apostle Andrew was executed in Patras during the reign of Emperor Nero. According to legend, he died tied to the X-shaped cross with which he is depicted in iconography.
In the Eastern tradition, the Apostle Andrew is also called the First-Called or Saint.
Апостол Андрій у християнстві є одним із дванадцяти апостолів Господа Ісуса Христа. Відомо, що він народився у Віфсаїді у сім'ї єврейського рибалки Іони.
Андрій Первозванний супроводжував Господа на проповідях як один із найближчих учнів, був присутній на Святій Вечері, Розп'ятті та Воскресінні. Разом з іншими учнями прийняв Святого Духа під час П'ятидесятниці.
Він проповідував християнство на сході Римської імперії і, мабуть, був місіонером у скіфських землях.
Апостола Андрія стратили в Патрах під час правління імператора Нерона. За переказами, він помер, прив'язаний до Х-подібного хреста, з яким зображується в іконографії.
У східній традиції апостола Андрія також називають Первозванним чи святим.
Стасов (одна з найвпливовіших постатей художнього життя Росії другої половини ХІХ століття) захоплювався розписами В. М. Васнєцова Володимирського собору в Києві і критикував М. А. Врубеля за створення орнаментів «зовсім не візантійських і не російських, а просто декадентських, які зовсім не йдуть до іншого церкви, а свідчать тільки про поганий смак, примхливість і малому художньому знанні та творчості їхніх авторів щодо візантайства». На критику Врубель відповів листом до редакції, в якому повідомив, що деякі з орнаментів, які так хвалив Стасов, у друкарні помилково приписали авторству Васнєцова, і насправді їх написав не Васнєцов, а Врубель.

В нумере третьем журнала «Искусство и Художественная промышлен- ность», на стр. 137, помещен в красках орнамент из Владимирского собора. Как в вышеупомянутом журнале, так и в издании г. Кульженко (откуда журнал перепечатал эту хромолитографию) означенный орнамент приписывается В. М. Васнецову.
Сим заявляю, что орнамент этот, находящийся в левом от входа корабле собора, всецело моей работы, изображения и разработки, и как г. Стасов, так и г. Кульженко ошибочно приписывают его В. М. Васнецову.

posted a photo of my wife -
aka the mom of the beamish boy,
Jonah Sparks -
because she doesn't like to
have her picture taken. But on this
day - her birthday, the first of March -
she was very happy
and okay with my incessant
snapping
and we celebrated at
Gladstone's on the beach
where Jonah got the
bright red Shirley Temple
that is here
where his mom is
kissing him in the
happy Santa Monica

When Jonah isn't busy eating huge amounts of cereal, he likes to run. We MEAN it, this little guy only has two legs and can run at up the speeds that can only be clocked during land speed record events.
Jonah is known for his love to cuddle and rest together after a hard day of running around at school or at a late night sleep over at grandmas.
Jumpin' Jonah Monster is 9" X 7 1/2" and stuffed with Fiberfill.
He is made of light weight felt and wool. Hand wash with water.
Jumpin' Jonah Monster is a combination of machine and hand sewn stitches.

The Canticle of Jonah
(Jonah, 2:3-10)
In my distress, I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me; from the belly of the grave, I cried out, and you have heard my voice!
You have thrown me into the depths, into the heart of the sea, and the waves rushed in on me from all sides.
All your surge and swell have overwhelmed me. And I, I kept saying: I have been rejected from your presence; how will I ever gaze on your temple again?
The waters closed in about me; the depths swallowed me up! Seaweed entwined itself around my head. There, where the mountains begin to grow, I went down into the world beneath, to people who once existed.
But you made my soul rise up from the deep, O Lord, my God! When I felt my strength failing, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer reached you, in your holy temple.
Those who serve nothingness have abandoned their true loyalty.
As for me, I will offer sacrifice to you to the tune of praise. The vow I made, I will keep. All help that saves comes forth from the Lord!

Hey, everyone! i hope you are all safe and warm. The storm here, up to now has produced fairly strong winds and rain...and rolling surf with 11-13 ft waves. It only rained last night and into the wee hours and then it all seemed to settle down. The Weather Channel kept reporting that it was not over and that by this evening we might get a dusting to an inch of snow...and that the winds would be rocking once again.
Looks like they are correct! I dashed out while there was a lull to grab some shots of the angry sea, dressed like an Inuit in my michelin man coat and over the knee boots and a scarf and hood. The winds were harsh to say the least and had turned ...coming out of the northwest, relentlessly. my hands were numb!
Tonight around dinner time the snow briefly came whipping by on the increasing wind, then stopped. The wind has not. It is now up around 35mph...with gusts up around 40 or 45 and the house is vibrating. I am getting used to it! It is not totally unpleasant and is no longer alarming to me!!
Off to eat my dinner...and then relax...I have more painting to do tomorrow but i think for tonight i will curl up with a good book!!!
I stopped in another gallery yesterday ...and they want my work!
to say i am stunned and over the moon happy would be understating it!! SO...i am going to be printing and framing and painting and creating my brains out for awhile as i make a concrete plan for keeping them stocked! Go me...and thank you to my friends that have been steadfastly encouraging me to take a chance at that brass ring!

On my trip down Route 66 I came across the Blue Whale of Catoosa, OK. Apparently some guy's wife loved whales so for their anniversary or something he built her this whale. The whale itself was a really cool piece of classic roadside, small-town Americana. This photo ended up being my favorite from the stop despite it not having anything to do with the whale itself. You're able to walk up a ladder that goes inside the head of the whale which is where I found this apocalyptic scene.
