Have you ever wished you could avoid elevators and escalators? This is a quick vertical crop from a horizontal RAW shot; this little House Sparrow seemed to rise effortlessly. Humans seem so clumsy by comparison.
I think this chap resembles an SFR (or Small Falcon Rocket, as Elon Musk envisioned and designed the BFR ;) No tricks (and not a great capture).
But I love to see the reusable launch rocket landing so precisely after working the seemingly clumsy early launch vehicles and landings at Canaveral and Edwards.
Thanks for all of your support!
We spent the last September weekend at Balls 29, a big experimental rocket launch event in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada - the same place where Burning Man takes place. About 300 rocketeers gathered to launch high power rockets in the middle of the playa (dry lakebed). A few years back I did a photoshoot on the playa with this chair. Since then it became a tradition to bring our throne back to the desert every time we go.
A Jeff Bezos puppet sits in the chair. Our rocket buddy Erik Charlton put the puppet as a payload into a rocket. It came down ballistic, and buried itself into the soft ground. We measured with a wooden stick, the rocket with Jeff Bezos and Kate (the talking onboard computer) were literally 6 feet under (see photo essay in comments).
I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

My opinion in English and Dutch:
English - Opinion piece Marco Monster 'Jeff and The Hef'
After the Second World War, most of the city centre was bombed to the ground and the bridge 'De Hef' was the very first structure to be rebuilt and repaired in Rotterdam. The bridge was used for years as a railway bridge and quickly became one of the icons of the port city of Rotterdam. After the bridge was no longer used as a railway bridge, it has even become a national monument and in 2017 it was also agreed in the city council that the old bridge would never be taken apart again. Jeff Bezos was once the richest man in the world, but his big competitor, the ‘Martian’ Elon Musk, now has a little more to spend. Elon Musk is known for the electric cars. The ‘environmental friendly’cars that have a lithium battery of which the raw material Lithium is an exhaustive raw material that is often found in the ground in certain forest areas in South America, so that large areas of forests are cut down for batterys and that those trees never are planted back, but this aside. Bezos and Musk are also evenly matched in the field of ‘Environmentally Friendly missiles’ but each person has its own hobby and you have to do something with your money. That is probably what the founder and former CEO of Amazon must have thought when he commissioned a Dutch shipbuilder to have a very luxurious sailing yacht made for him. The yacht will be the largest sailing yacht in the world and the second largest yacht overall in the world. There is therefore nothing to complain about prestige among the very richest in the world. However, there is a small problem, the boat cannot pass under the iconic bridge 'De Hef' and then it cannot reach open water. It is only 45 meters high. The inhabitants of Rotterdam are furious that the bridge will be dismantled later in the year and want to pelt the yacht with rotten eggs. If the hooligans of Feyenoord would interfere, the eggs certainly would be replaced by stones. Although the Hooligans of Feyenoord used to be known for years as the most feared supporters legion in Europe, Jeff Bezos will not really lose sleep over it. After all, the ship will be equipped with the necessary safety gadgets and also with anti-spy and anti-radar technologies. For money to repair damage, well he won't have to bleed financially for that. Bezos has said he will pay for the costs of dismantling and then reassembling the bridge. The Netherlands is the absolute market leader when it comes to building luxury yachts and building this yacht provides a lot of employment and purchasing power. That’s good for the Dutch economy. Mr. Bezos I have a proposition for you. As a token of appreciation, do you want to donate a nice amount to the city of Rotterdam so that a new Feyenoord stadium can finally be built or that the old one can be renovated because clubs in all cities in the world manage to build newer modern stadiums. Even very small clubs can achieve this, but for more than 10 years that has still not been possible in the metropolis of Rotterdam. Perhaps the Rotterdammers will leave their rotten eggs at home when that happens.

'Santa 2.0' by Street Artist STRA.
When I visited the Brick lane area just before last Christmas there were quite a few works by this French Street Artist. Most were quite clever and had a message but like this one featuring Jeff Bezos I would suggest it wasn't always clear who the people were meant to be as the likenesses weren't great. Take a look at his Instagram account and see if you agree..... www.instagram.com/_stra_/
Having said that I'll upload one of my favourite pieces of Street Art I've seen in a while and it's one of his.
From an interview in 'LSD Magazine ' : "When street artist STRA began attending art school, street art or graffiti were the furthest thing from his mind. When he discovered the spontaneous public format, it gripped him by the heart, a spray can became a weapon. Undeterred by tutors at art school whom disregarded any future in public art. He adopted the anonymous persona of STRA and kept his identity secret for ten years.
‘I don’t paint for the beauty of it, I rather prefer painting the reality’
Over the years he developed a variety of techniques to deliver his newly found purpose in life. The chosen messaging is political satirical and social commentary. Using black, white & red as his favourite colour palette, STRA reached out to the world, a variety of countries and cities were exposed to his symbolic artwork.
‘I’ve been painting streets around the world for over 10 years now, with always the same mission: dropping as much messages as possible’"

Yes - we've all ordered that really good deal from amazon, and yes they are too good to be true.
1. The consumer (Amazon Customer) usually has no idea this is going on. They purchase a design they like on their chosen product at a cheap price without a second thought as to who the artist is and whether they are purchasing an authentic product.
2. The products are made using screen captures of low resolution art files found on artists websites, google image searches or from artist licensed partners like Fine Art America, Society6, and Zazzle.
3. The fake products are mostly made by Chinese sellers, but they have also been found globally being resold by many U.S and European sellers and discount warehouses. China does not enforce international copyright treaties and their courts generally do not acknowledge intellectual property rights.
4. These products are often not as described, made from inferior materials and from very low resolution images that make the artwork look fuzzy and/or off-color. These low quality products often still have artist watermarks still on them. They usually sell at incredibly cheap prices and more often than not they ship from China or outside of the USA.
Why does Amazon let this happen?
$$$$ greed. We can assume the only logical reason Amazon allows and supports the illegal copyright infringement so strongly is that they can make more money selling a larger volume of cheap counterfeits vs a smaller volume of more expensive artisan original products. Amazon makes money on every counterfeit item sold. From membership fees paid by counterfeit sellers as well as a fee for every item sold and from fulfillment fees distributing these items from their warehouses.
Learn more about Amazon copyright infringement and how they are funneling billions of dollars of American intellectual property into the Chinese economy.

Doesn't a registered Copyright protect Artists? Why not sue them?
An artist in the USA has an immediate copyright at the point of creation. The copyright however, must be registered with the government in order to take legal action in court. There really is no law enforcement to help an artist. There is no assistance from the police, the FBI or the DOJ or the US government in enforcing copyright laws in online marketplaces. All of this is left up to the civil-suit court system. The U.S. copyright registration is much like a fancy extended warranty certificate from a company that went bankrupt.
The Chinese economy and the companies like Amazon, Ali Baba and Ebay that support these illegal activities count on this lack of enforcement. They know international lawsuits against anyone in China is a fruitless effort. These companies hide behind their "Safe Harbor" status that protects them from liability of what sellers do in their marketplaces. This then allows them to create a complex system to encourage the copyright infringements and profit from it directly without being held responsible for it.
Once you've taken away an artists income - they have no money to hire a lawyer. If somehow they do, companies like Amazon have a legal army that will tie up your case until you have not a penny left.
