Ok this is me! not the best photo but pretty accurate of how things have been. This shot was taken 3 weeks post upper & lower jaw, cheek & chin surgery. I still have swelling in my cheeks & lower jaw & light bruising along my lower jaw line. My hair is also overdue & I have very little makeup on. I also have a bite/chin splint wired in to stabilize my lower jaw during healing (about 3 more weeks on the splint-don't know how much longer on the wires!)This is a brave thing for me, as I do not like pictures of myself so please no invites to groups on this one! Thanks to all of you who have been so supportive & entertaining during my recovery-I can't wait to post a shot of the finished product!

For the second-to-last week of braces hell, I'm supposed to wear rubber bands hooked onto every tooth, thus closing my jaw together.

This helps top and bottom teeth to 'seat' together perfectly.

Though VERY inconvenient, ugly, and painful, I noticed an improvement in the fit of my teeth by the very next day!

A photo before and 5 days after I had double jaw surgery. I look rather swollen and bruised; most of my neck is yellow! It isn't as painful as you would think, Co-codamol helps with that. It's mostly my lips that hurt, they had to stretch them a lot. I have three screws each side and two plates by my nose. I had a couple of sutchers out today, the consultant said it was a perfect operation, and I'll now have a 3 point bite, rather than no bite at all. Next Tuesday I'll be able to blow my nose for the first time! I expect more blood to emerge.

Here, my wire is 'sectioned,' or cut so that only the part of the wire attached to my front teeth is remaining.

This blurry phone photo is intended to show the lack of wire on my back teeth.

The left photo was taken a week before my surgery. The right photo was taken 5 days after my surgery.

I've always had an overbite, but the severity occurred within a year's time. Take a look at this photo, which was taken in March 2006. You can see how much my jaw moved since then...

It's not a good picture (I have a Paris Hilton lazy eye :P) but it's the final before/after shot from my surgery.

Yes, it hurts as bad as it looks.

today is when the wire holding her top and bottom jaw together is coming off. yay

Can you tell my teeth are rubber-banded shut?

They are! Completely.
