On the south bank of the River Thames in London just east of Tower Bridge is an area informally called Shad Thames. Java Wharf is situated on St Saviour's Dock in Shad Thames. Charles Dickens set Bill Sikes's den at the east of Shad Thames in Oliver Twist, in the buildings adjacent to St Saviour's Dock. It is here that Sykes falls from a roof and dies in the mud, probably of St Saviour's Dock. The sign for 'Java Wharf' looks a little askew in this image. The sign actually 'flows' around some the brickwork.

The best part of the morning routine is the smell of the coffee beans going into the grinder.
My name is Jeffrey, and I approve this Java.
Ok so story time....
I titled this shot Java Alley because it is right next to Theo's Java Club. Which is my favorite coffee shop in my home town. What a boring story right? Well that's not really the story. No one I know actually calls this Java Alley. No we call it "The Piss Alley". You see that wet stain on the concrete? That's a perpetual state.
This little alley and said coffee shop are part of the local entertainment district. We call it "The District" Clever huh? There are a lot of bars in The District" And if stand around this spot at 3ish in the morning you'll get to see some one peeing there. If it's a Saturday night and you're real lucky you might get to see a couple of assholes fighting for the right to pee there.
That's it that's my story. One day when I get a better camera that can handle night shooting better I'm going to go back home and take a series of shots of this alley living up to it's name. Look for it.
After a overnight snowfall of over a foot, Burlington Northern Santa Fe stack train No. 15 is at Java West on Montana’s Marias Pass on March 2, 1997. An icy Middle Fork of the Flathead River meanders through the winter scape.

The Java sparrow is about 15 to 17 cm (5.9 to 6.7 in) in length from the beak to its tip of tail feathers. Although only about the size of a house sparrow, it may be the largest species in the estrildid family. The adult is unmistakable, with its grey upperparts and breast, pink belly, white-cheeked black head, red eye-ring, pink feet and thick red bill.
Both sexes are similar. Immature birds have brown upperparts and pale brown underparts, and a plain head. Very young birds have a black beak with a pink base.
Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment and fave my images. Enjoy the day.
