I met Jason in Tokyo where he was visiting for the weekend. A real Pacific Ocean metropolitan man, born as a South African coloured, lived in Australia and back then, was working in Japan.
When I saw him, I couldn't tell what he was, so I asked him if he was the one thing I knew he couldn't be - Japanese! He was in shock and I thought his reaction was attitude (I found later he had been shocked that I actually talked to him). Ok... whatever.
So anyway, we traipsed around Tokyo and he stayed with me his last night there and gave me an open invitation to Nagoya where he lived.
If i'm anything in this world, it's adventurous. After ascertaining it was more expensive to fly WITHIN Japan than it was to fly to Hong Kong, I settled on the shinkansen. Every Friday I'd hop on one for just under two hours from Tokyo to Nagoya. An express. Only used to stop at Shin-Yokohama and Gifu City (I think). Good stuff.
Had a Thai dinner at an authentic Thai restaurant with Jason and Marianna (a Japanese born in Brazil). Had Brazilian cuisine at an authentic Brazillian restaurant in Nagoya. (Well, as authentic as it can be outside of the country.) Hit nightclubs and bars. Met up with other ex-pats. Went to capoeira class.
Oh Oh, the funniest thing... now in Japan you will find all types, all styles. So there're lolitas, punks, goths, you name it, they have it. I was at a party with Jason and he went off to hit up his friends and these Japanese guys came up to me like," Yo man, wassup?" They were wearing bling and baggy clothes and were more gangster than anyone I'd ever seen. Apparently they thought becuz I was black I could relate. I was petrified.
Taken at the boxing gym in Trafford, Manchester, England. Jason fights as an amateur in the 81kg weight class and is Yorkshire champion.

Steeple Jason is a small group of island in the north of the Falklands and home to the black-browed albatross. The birds were amazing, but so was the scenery. A snow storm had passed through minutes earlier and can still be seen leaving the islands in the distance.
