Silhouette of cattails at the Marshlands Conservancy (Rye, New York)--January 16, 2010

We got our heaviest snowfall of the season on the day and night of New Year's Eve. It was one of those wet snows that coated everything. I awoke to scenes like this. Wishing you all a happy January and a happy 2019.

Always a welcome sign when my money plant starts to flower. I was hoping they would be open by this weekend’s challenge but the buds will have to do!

Have a great weekend Flickr friends and thanks for viewing 😀

Cider likes all things winter.

Back to the fog and getting up early in the freezing cold!!! First sunrise of this year hope you all like it!

Strange glimpses of sunshine through the clouds in several places, and with light from the sea.

Not much light in the afternoon .....

Happy Weekend!

Many thanks for your visit, most appreciated.

It's true I do actually go out on some of the warmer winter days....

After a day of freezing fog, the setting sun created glowing colours to light up the sky and landscape. An ash tree stands sentinel on the Iron Age ramparts overlooking Witcombe Valley and outlined against the evening sky.

Clouds cling to the peaks of the Golden Ears mountains on a sunny late January day.

A january day not too cold and a bit of snow is very peaceful to enjoy.

Chinese Witch Hazel "Pallida" (Hamamelis mollis) in bloom earlier this morning. Hamamelis mollis' wild cousins, the native American Witchhazel (Hamamelis virginiana), are generally the last trees & shrubs to bloom, late in the Fall, just before the killing frosts. And this Chinese cultivar is most often the first of all small trees & shrubs to bloom, from mid to late Winter, as we move towards Spring.

A January morning in the woods.

Bright and frosty today.
