My buddy for the day is the one and only Jane St. Clair. She has helped me design decals, edit photos, watch TV, make some soup - I don't know how I would get through my day without all of her help.

If you are wondering why I didn't post this Jane Birkin photo 12 years ago, I can only tell you there were many photos posted with a review written by someone else (link is unfortunately dead, though).

Also, when I first joined Flickr, I tended to put up sets of bands all at once and I just found that people would rather look at the cell phone shots they had taken at the show and could view at most one photo of someone else's. That's just the reality of how the world is.

There is so much noise.

Everyone is standing next to each other in the photo pit. It is hot and sometimes exhausting and we are sharing the same space, breathing exactly the same air, and our minds and fingers are clicking and clicking. So, we are likely getting the same shots with the same timing at slightly different angles.

But maybe, just maybe, I manage to get something a little different or a little special and that's what I am hoping for.

Let's not celebrate Jane because she died. Let's celebrate her because she lived.

life inside a tulip. I'm currently waiting to hear how my brother's hip operation went this afternoon. I phoned him this morning and he said he was terrified. Friends kindly took him to the hospital and we shall visit him tomorrow and Friday, combining it with a trip to the cottage - so I shall be away for a short while . . . back soon . . .

Celebrating Jane Austen on International Women's Day.

Where to begin?

It is unbelievable that women are still confined to one annual day of acknowledgement - but the reality is that the 'push' towards real equality between the sexes still leaves an immense gap. Oxfam's new Davos report reveals that globally men now own US$105 trillion more wealth than women – a difference in wealth that is more than four times the size of the entire US economy. Nevertheless

Happy International Women's Day 😊

Happy Friday Flora too!

Winchelsea was such an opportunity for taking photos that I had to forgo my usual beach activity: collecting stones. A long shot, I thought, I asked Peter if he would collect some for me and here they are - some of them. He said he enjoyed collecting them .. .

Jane is in love with the warmer spring weather we are experiencing and the back porch, with all of the glass windows, is the best place to be if you are a cat.

more than anything I like to capture Elsie secretly amused. So often she appears solemn or contemplative (and nowadays sometimes displeased at being photographed) and so to catch her amused which she so often is, is a pleasure . . .

and, to all those who offered help on getting the smokey smell to go away, i wrapped her in dryer sheets for about a day and that helped a lot! the funny thing is that everyone in my house is allergic to stuff like dryer sheets. we use a fragrance free hypoallergenic detergent on our clothes. so, we were all itchy just from having the stuff in the house... !!!! after a day, i had to get rid of it!

Peter is the figure walking in the centre of the picture - thank you for driving us safely to Cirencester, to Gloucester and back to London all in one day . . . a trip of about 250 miles.

Gloucester docks is one of my favourite places for photographs and after a rather hectic day it was lovely to spend three quarters of an hour wandering around playing with my new powershot before meeting Caroline and John for a meal.

today's photos are dedicated to my dear housemate jane, and the madness that she brings to the world. it's been a fun weekend!

Jane looks down her nose at me. I think she was thinking about sneezing but the look is similar to judging.

She had been sad I was gone for a few hours and RAN up to see me as soon as I got home. So I held her for a few hours. She was so happy to have me home. She was purring so loud I couldn't hear the TV; she is one happy cat.

This is Jane, finally finished.

Jane, finalmente terminada.

I wear a T-shirt with this cool image on it that is a combination of Jane and the famous painting Starry Night. I'm sharing the image now on Flickr so more people can enjoy it.

This was created by combining several prompts, a seed, and an image of Starry Night as input into an AI tool called Midjourney.
