I got Jane to pose by a window so I could capture some of the super bubbly bokeh you can get from this Polish projector lens.
I was getting some harsh shadows from the sides of the chair she was under so I used a little fill flash.
There is a sort of pleasing softness to this lens that will likely make it good for portraits of humans. For the cat, it softens her fur more, making her look prettier than ever.
This lens was made by Łódzkie Zakłady Kinotechniczne and according to Wikipedia, that was the only factory in Poland to make projectors.

My buddy for the day is the one and only Jane St. Clair. She has helped me design decals, edit photos, watch TV, make some soup - I don't know how I would get through my day without all of her help.
Venus Laowa 105mm f/2 (T/3.2) STF, wide open. I'm new to this lens and its double aperture so join me as I experiment and learn how to make the most of this unusual feature.

If you are wondering why I didn't post this Jane Birkin photo 12 years ago, I can only tell you there were many photos posted with a review written by someone else (link is unfortunately dead, though).
Also, when I first joined Flickr, I tended to put up sets of bands all at once and I just found that people would rather look at the cell phone shots they had taken at the show and could view at most one photo of someone else's. That's just the reality of how the world is.
There is so much noise.
Everyone is standing next to each other in the photo pit. It is hot and sometimes exhausting and we are sharing the same space, breathing exactly the same air, and our minds and fingers are clicking and clicking. So, we are likely getting the same shots with the same timing at slightly different angles.
But maybe,just maybe, I manage to get something a little different or a little special and that's what I am hoping for.
Let's not celebrate Jane because she died. Let's celebrate her because she lived.

we went to Dulwich Picture Gallery today (the first public picture gallery in the world) to see the Ravilious exhibition. We were unprepared for the crowds. We waited 45 minutes in a queue to buy tickets and then a further 90 mins until our allotted time slot - who would have thought that he would have commanded such enormous interest, but I'm glad he did. His works are gentle - in colour and execution and I like them very much.
As far as the Dulwich Picture Gallery is concerned, see above . . . you get the picture! (this is not the Ravilious exhibition, photos are only allowed in the main gallery)
Jane dumped her toy basket out onto the floor. This brought out a lot of rolling around, crazy, biting, and hiding behind toys for play.

All of the snow makes spotting birds and squirrels even easier. But I suspect it would make hunting them harder. I don't know, I'm not a cat.

Jane is enjoying our super lower windows made for her to watch wildlife. Her favorites are squirrels and birds. Sometimes other cats stop by just watch Jane as she runs around and plays with her toys.

catching up, hope to finish this evening. Tomorrow our neighbours are coming here for an evening meal . . . in our new extra cosy conditions (the living room is being decorated) so will be back on Sunday . . .
On a little corner on the way to Cygnet in Tasmania, my sister showed me this fantastic tree on a point, with Bruny Island in the background. With a typical rainy day, this was the result!

on Sunday I walked along the New River with my camera . . . I shall miss this part of the New River when we move. Today the surveyor for the new buyer came and surveyed and drank tea, then coffee and chatted. One step nearer . . .

Winchelsea was such an opportunity for taking photos that I had to forgo my usual beach activity: collecting stones. A long shot, I thought, I asked Peter if he would collect some for me and here they are - some of them. He said he enjoyed collecting them .. .

Spent a lovely afternoon and evening over in east London yesterday. I took quite a lot of photos of Elsie as she told me about her holiday and showed me the bags she had been making, how she was decorating the walls of her bedroom and . . all sorts of things. She has discovered the wonder of secondhand clothes! The hat she bought, the stripey glove i think she was given, but only has one!
