Since 1974, when they were featured in the James Bond movie "The Man with the Golden Gun", Khao Phing Kan and Ko Ta Pu have been popularly called James Bond Island.
Before 1974, the island was a rarely visited indigenous area. However, it was chosen as one of the location for the 1974 James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun as the hideout for Bond's antagonist, Francisco Scaramanga. After the movie release it turned into a popular tourist destination. Popularity and increased tourism left Khao Phing Kan with substantial litter. In 1981, the island became the most famous part of the newly established Ao Phang Nga Marine National Park. Since 1998, it is forbidden for tourist boats to approach Ko Ta Pu. This measure aims to stop erosion of the limestone rocks on and near the islet that might eventually result in the island's collapse

I do have the privilege to see this place frequently, as our company uses to have an office there.
There is a small but fine vintage car museum near where I live (Emil Frey Classics AG). The vehicles are displayed in an appropriate style in an old, converted factory. This year's special exhibition is dedicated to the 1960s and the corresponding James Bond film. Here an Aston Martins DB6 (without the James Bond gimmiks). A head turner from a car - beautifully presented.

'AU Vodka', I have discovered, is a Welsh company founded by three young guys in 2015, in Wales. Apparently it is the most popular vodka in the UK. Quite extraordinary.

So, anyway, I encountered this James Bond style car during my Friday afternoon harbour & riverside walk, this time arriving by Rivercat to explore Breakfast Point, a former industrial wasteland, and now the face of the new and salubrious western Sydney.
