Despite the glint from the morning sun the temperature was -12. It was so cold it made the skin on my face burn. I longed to trade places with this driver.

You know how everyone's always saying, "Seize the moment"?
[He nods yes]
I don't know, I'm kinda thinkin' it's the other way around.
You know, like, the moment seizes us.
[They trade smiles]
January 2006 on the Yuanbaoshan Colliery Railway near Chifeng in the Mongolian Autonomous Region of China. The JS class locomotives had only a few weeks left before replacement by new diesels. Well maintained to the end these locomotives made a fine sight.
I got some inspiration to do a bolt action sniper rifle, as usually lawl. Chambered in a custom .338 round.
Credit to Shockwave for the bolt handle.
During the Cold War, the new Japanese Naval Self-defense Force built a series of large destroyers (Haruna and Shirane classes) which featured large hangars on the rear for up to three locally build Sea King Helicopters. Back then, protect Japan´s naval routes from hostile Soviet or Chinese submarines were the main mission of the JMSDF.
Although very capable and effective, these large destroyers could only take to sea a small number of Helicopters (3) when compared to a regular Aircraft-carrier which reduced their combat potential. Proposals for a true Anti-submarine Helicopter carrier were made but refused.
However, with the end of the Cold War and the recent increased in size of the Chinese Navy, (and since Helicopters continued to prove to be the best ASW weapon for a ship), a decision was made to develop a much larger anti-submarine ship.
However, this would lead to a series of political problems.

Jack Storm - The Island is a LEGO webcomic created by my good friend and LDD magician Pixel Fox. The first episode of this "Nate Drake meets Indiana Jones" story, can be viewed in its entirety here. I can't recommend it enough - read it, you'll be blown away.
The above scene is loosely inspired by the original story, I built it for the NCLUG display we had at the NC Comicon on 9 & 10 November 2013. My objective was to raise the awereness of the public towards fan made LEGO comics.
Big thanks to Legogal from Eurobricks for lending me all the palm trees!
