Die Fotos von JR füllen ganze Räume. Das mittlere ist ein Ausschnitt aus dem rechten, die beiden anderen habe ich perspektivisch aufgenommen. JR hat all die Personen einzeln aufgenommen und dann zu einer Collage zusammengesetzt. Eine unermessliche Arbeit!
JR's photos fill entire rooms. The middle one is an excerpt, I took the other two in perspective. JR took each of the characters individually and then put them together into a collage. An immeasurable work!
No train in Japan is more famous, nor more sought after, than JR Central and JR West's 923 Series, better known worldwide as "Doctor Yellow"
Originally built in 1998, these trains were rebuilt from the original 700 Series. Their role is to make sure the Tokaido and San'yo Shinkansen routes are kept in peak condition through inspection. Each 923 series contains a myriad of track and overhead measurement equipment housed in 7 cars. Monitoring is done on board by a 9-person crew of railway technicians.
It is said here that seeing Doctor Yellow by chance is considered to bring good luck. At best, they'll operate 3-4 times a month. No official schedule exists, but there are unofficial ways to check if they're running, though by no means is it a guarantee. Regardless, I'm thrilled to finally see one for myself!

Zipping south along the Shonan Coast at Sagami Bay, an N700A series Shinkansen heads towards Kyoto, while the sun sets behind the hills near Odawara on a beautiful autumn evening.

I went to take a photograph of rail all over this holiday.
However, focus did not fit those photographs.
なかなかお目にかかれないので、通過の時間まで調べて線路端まで行ったのに、
あっという間に過ぎ去る「スーパービュー踊り子号」。
気がつけばリアビュー、しかもピント合ってないし(笑)。

With the green shirt, the famous (but anonymous !) photographer JR, in front of one of his work during the Rencontres d'Arles. His work has been spread (usually without permission) on city walls in Paris and other cities around the world, as well as on the wall between Israel and Palestine (Face2Face project). I had the chance to listen to JR himself talking about his work, and I must say I found it refreshing and inspiring: it's not just that he's a good photographer, but his goals and the ways to achieve them, together with his attitude towards celebrity, are truly impressive. While everyone tries to be noticed and dreams of being "famous", when a lot of contemporary photography and art in general (to me at least) is pretentious and self-centered, someone like JR is an anomaly. He wants to remain anonymous and independent, he funds his projects himself (many of which are illegal), and he actively defends human causes. Chapeau bas, m'sieur JR !
PS: by the way, he accepted to have his photo taken but only wearing his hat and glasses. Just so you don't think I've stolen his picture ;-)
It appears this fan simply bought another 8 (different size)and slapped it on, right next to the one already on his gas cap door of his beatup 94 Ford Escort, when Dale Jr. changed teams and numbers. That's freakin loyalty. I like the fact that it's double infinity signs. Go Junior !!! To infinity and twice beyond !!!

Excuse my weird fit, um... I've been kinda grouchy today and I haven't exactly felt like myself, so sorry about that.
Um, yeah anyway. I've actually had him done for the longest time (before Duck Hunt and the other improved figs actually), but haven't shown em' off 'till now.
He does use the bottom half of a rock for the Clown Car, which is good for 2 things.
#1 - The propellers actually spin.
#2 - There's a stud in the middle to keep him from falling out.
It's pretty neat, even though it should probably be more "rounded" off. I personally like it this way, pretty sure I won't change it.
Bla bla bla bla bla, jeez, I sure am talkative today.
Eh, see ya on the flipside.
Jr. is a serious little gentleman. It's a treat to have him around.
Please don't try this with wild animals!
Note to self: buy grapes. :)
[Edit: HOLD THOSE GRAPES! Thanks to en2zasm for the heads up on the toxicity of grapes and raisins in dogs. My little coonlets are closely related to canines and I will no longer be offering grapes or raisins as treats.

Il y avait 100 m de queue pour se placer juste dans l'axe pour que les piliers de la date de fer coïncident exactement avec ceux du collage, je me suis assise devant la queue, cela fait un cliché décalé

JR "Momotaro" EF210-901 ist mit einem Containerzug unterwegs in Richtung Hiroshima, aufgenommen zwischen Higashi-Onomichi und Onomichi am Nachmittag des 01.08.2026.
Conrail JR-2 detours westbound on the Lehigh Line with some classic former Conrail units leading. NS 3434 is ex-CR 6520 and NS 1702 is ex-CR 6659, EL 3674, an SD45-2. JR-2 would normally head south out of Oak Island Yard onto the Garden State Secondary, with traffic for Port Reading and Browns Yards. Trackwork has forced the train to run west to Bound Brook where the power will run around the train before heading east on the Port Reading Secondary.
