Dapia is the heart of Spetses Town and is the new harbour of the island, located in a small area and is the latest settlement of the island.

We made it here on a kayak and a canoe. It was a tough paddle for 4.5 hours, so we started with the sunrise to bit the unpredictable winds on Lake Maligne, with only one stop for 15 minutes. Do I have big muscles? Nope! You can make it too! We met a few canoeists on the way there, and they were singing “Yellow Submarine” to add to the rhythm of paddling. What a treat and motivational tool to keep paddling!!! We started singing too. I guess, it helps to be determined to get to your destination. It just gets easier!!! Enjoy it!

Thanks for your visits, favs and comments. As always, appreciated very much!

In Serifos there are more than 116 churches, many of which are restored Byzantine churches, while others are built in remote places and their access is possible only through paths, and some of them are situated in the settlements, waiting for the visitor to discover them.

The first adaptation of the novel “Dr. No” by Ian Fleming was filmed in 1962 on the island of New Providence, in the Bahamas. The film starred Sean Connery as the famous James Bond character. The scene where Bond arrives at the airport on the island was filmed in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. Moonfleet Beach was the filming location for Bond's bathing scene with Honey Ryder. The final scene was filmed at the Blue Lagoon on Grand Bahama Island. New Providence and Grand Bahama are the islands where the movie Dr No was filmed.

" Take me away from this city, To where I can be on my own.

We wanted a good life and now that its done, I just want to be left alone,

Ill still remember your kind word and ill rememer your name,

For Ive felt your twisting and turning, And for me it just wont be the same"

So Im leavin` here next Sunday mornin`, To a place where I know I can hear,

The cry of the gulls and the sea on the shore, With all of the things I hold dear.

And if ever I tire of this quiet life, Ill just walk right back up that hill,

And Ill head out that road and stick out my thumb,

For someone is waiting there still! "

Ive used a lot of poetic license on this poem and changed the words a good bit, as it fits my past life accurately which still hurts a bit, and and always will, that's being honest!

The words and idea are partly borrowed from a wonderful song by Liam Reilly with a group called "Bagatelle" and was called "Summer in Dublin" It was a huge hit here and in the UK and deservedly so in my opinion!

I hope you like this late evening photo which I took from Howth Headland through the Sycamore trees, across the sound to Irelands eye, County Dublin. I have wonderful childhood memories of this place as we used to holiday here as children, on Howth head. I spent a lot of time on the island and travelling up and down to "the hill" on the open top electric tram that used to run there. Sadly gone now!

It took me over 50 years to get back to see it again and its still as beautiful as ever. Its another one of "my places!" Lucky me!!

Do hope your week ahead is cracking!!!!

Thank you everybody!!!!

Update; Wow! Im very touched by the reaction to this.

I don't know if its the photo or the words, but hopefully both.

Im pleased with it and inspired and amazed by all you great genuine flickr people!

A sudden storm in the Virgin Islands

Haliburton Highlands, Ontario

I made a trip yesterday to Block Island, which was of course more challenging than usual due to Covid concerns. Block Island is about 12 miles off the coast of Rhode Island. I’d never been there off season before. A surprising number of people were on the ferry, but we were all of course wearing masks and “distancing” as required. I rented a bike and went out to Mohegan Bluffs, which are probably the most impressive cliffs you can find anywhere in New England. Anyway, New Shoreham, the town which technically covers the whole of Block Island, has a population of about 1100 inhabitants, they market themselves as the “smallest town in the smallest state”.

There are a surprising number of cars for such a small island. I saw a bumper sticker that read “Block Island, social distancing since 1651” :)

If you zoom in, you can see the stairs going down to the beach.

You can also see South East Lighthouse from 1875, more about that coming.

Ynys Llanddwyn (also known as Llanddwyn Island) is a small tidal island off the west coast of Anglesey

Minamijima is a limestone island located south of Chichijima. It embraces an emerald green pond that is popular for boat tours. On this day, however, mood of the island was different from tourist brochures.

The pond can be accessed through a narrow channel as seen in the right. It is a doline of Karst topography.

"Spirit Island"

Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park.

The island is a spiritual place for the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, who believe mountains are physical representations of their ancestors. The fact that Spirit Island is surrounded on three sides by the same mountain range is very rare and makes it particularly significant to the Stoney. The color of the water is different at Spirit Island than where cruises depart at the Maligne Lake docks. The further south on the lake you travel, the closer you get to glaciers, and the more emerald-colored the water becomes due to the presence of rock flour from the glaciers.

For this image, I smoothed out the water to give it a more peaceful environment. This was one of top three bucket list locations from this adventure. Moraine Lake at sunrise, walking on a glacier on the Icefield's Parkway, and Spirit Island in Jasper NP. We ended up driving over 4k miles from KC to the upper parts of Alberta, Canada. What an adventure.
