Pelee Islander was built on the Canadian side of Lake Erie, in what was a shipyard in the village of Erieau and ran from Kingsville and Leamington on the Canadian side, to the Canadian island of Pelee, to Sandusky, Ohio for decades. She's due to be replaced by a brand new (Chilean-built) ferry, Pelee Islander 2, but glitches in a newer boat means her props are still turning. Buy a print here:

Terminal Island California was once home to a community of Japanese and Japanese Americans who made their living as fisherman. Their isolated village was known as Fish Harbor, and it supported a population of some 3000 people. During World War II the village was forcibly evacuated and its people were placed in internment camps for the duration of the war. When they returned to their village after the war they found it had been bulldozed by the navy. Nothing remains of the village today.
