A simple, versatile shape. I used a Tunisian crochet hook with self-striping yarn and started at one corner, working the rows side-to-side, and the edging as you go! I wear it everywhere!
The pattern for it is a downloadable PDF, available at my DesigningVashti crochet website. (Please see my Flickr profile for the direct link.) It's also in Ravelry as "Tunisian Islander."

Terminal Island California was once home to a community of Japanese and Japanese Americans who made their living as fisherman. Their isolated village was known as Fish Harbor, and it supported a population of some 3000 people. During World War II the village was forcibly evacuated and its people were placed in internment camps for the duration of the war. When they returned to their village after the war they found it had been bulldozed by the navy. Nothing remains of the village today. This photo shows the memorial set up by The Terminal Islanders Club, descendants of the residents who lived and worked in Fish Harbor. Olympus XA. Walgreens 800 asa film.
