Say hello to the Hovertravel hovercraft, your ticket to the fastest (and funniest) ride between the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth!
Caught here at Ryde Hoverport on the Isle of Wight, this Union Jack-wrapped beast skims over sand and sea in just a few minutes, making ferries look like they’re on a leisurely Sunday stroll. It’s not just a trip—it’s a proper hover-adventure, floating above the waves like a giant inflatable unicorn (but with better engines).
Whether you’re a tourist or a local, this unique experience is the quickest way to hop between the two beaches, the most unique air experience without wings.

Paradise - La Maddalena islands, just outside Palau.
Turquoise waters embrace rugged granite shores under a sky painted with drifting clouds. Cala Corsara, nestled on Isola Spargi in the Maddalena Archipelago, is a sanctuary of wild beauty and crystalline seas. This Italian paradise, part of a protected national park, lies between Sardinia and Corsica—a timeless haven for sailors, dreamers, and nature lovers.
Fun Fact
The Maddalena Archipelago became a National Park in 1994 to preserve its unique marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Its pink beaches, sculpted granite rocks, and transparent waters make it one of the Mediterranean’s most coveted destinations.
The Maddalena Archipelago is a group of islands in the Straits of Bonifacio between Corsica (France) and north-eastern Sardinia (Italy). It consists of seven main islands and numerous other small islets.
The largest island is Isola Maddalena, on which sits the archipelago's largest town, La Maddalena. The other six islands, in order of size, are: Caprera, Spargi, Santo Stefano, Santa Maria, Budelli and Razzoli. Only Maddalena, Caprera and S. Stefano are inhabited.
Lying adjacent to the famous tourist resort of the Costa Smeralda, Maddalena shares the same crystal clear waters and wind blown granite coastlines but also remains a haven for wildlife. It is a designated National Park, the Parco Nazionale Arcipelago di La Maddalena. It is a very popular tourist destination, especially among boaters. In 2006 it was placed on the Tentative list for consideration as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Tourism on Ko Lanta, akin to the broader Krabi province, has witnessed substantial growth only in recent years. During the early 1990s, the island attracted primarily intrepid travelers who opted for rudimentary accommodations priced between 50 and 100 baht per night. Currently, Ko Lanta has emerged as a prominent destination within Krabi’s tourism sector. Nevertheless, its level of development remains modest in comparison to well-established locations such as Phuket and Ko Samui.
Please find hereafter the Wikipedia description enclosed for your reference:
* Ko Lanta National Park Covering a total area of 152 square kilometres, Mu Ko Lanta National Park is located in Amphoe Ko Lanta and consists of many islands. The two major islands are Ko Lanta Yai (เกาะลันตาใหญ่) and Ko Lanta Noi (เกาะลันตาน้อย)
* Lanta Old Town It's one of the region’s most culturally diverse with Chinese merchants, original Thai fishing families and an ancient Sea Gypsy community. Many years ago, Ko Lanta's Old Town acted as the port and commercial center for the island and provided a safe harbor for Arabic and Chinese trading vessels sailing between the larger ports of Phuket, Penang and Singapore.
* Khao Mai Kaew Caves These Caves, located in the centre of the island, house impressive stalactites and stalagmites, some of the caves are just very large and one contains a pool.
* Sea-Gypsy Village Known to the Thais as Chao-Le, sea gypsies have occupied the area for hundreds of years settling along the coast in stilt-built houses erected in the sea. They are unique in that they mix very little with the general population, speak their language and have their very own supernatural and traditional beliefs and rituals.
* Orchid Nursery Farm This farm is for those who like flowers. The Orchid Nursery Farm is located at Long Beach (Pra Ae beach).
Diving & Snorkeling
The diving sites surrounding Ko Lanta are considered by many to be among some of the best the country has to offer. There is an enormous variety of fringing reefs, marine life, caves, rocks and islets.
Hin Daeng and Hin Muang near Ko Lanta are perhaps the best dive sites in Thailand (ranking in the world’s top ten) with more than 200 hard corals and 108 reef fish catalogued in a study underway, but thousands more organisms abound. Hin Daeng has the steepest and deepest in the whole of the country with beautiful marine life. Hin Muang next door is completely underwater and it is covered with delicate violet coral. The sites also have one of the world's highest incidences of whale shark sightings.
Fishing
Fishers usually catch the likes of marlin, sailfish barracuda, red snapper and tuna during a long tail boat trip having a choice of either day fishing or night fishing.
Kayaking
The east side of Ko Lanta with its rich mangroves is the most suitable for kayaking in peace and quiet while admiring the natural surroundings. Kayaking is also the best way to explore caves. Kayaking can also be done on Ko Talabaeng, the limestone cliff near Ko Lanta.
Trekking
Ko Lanta’s pristine forests with excellent flora and fauna are suitable for trekking. Elephant riding are usually arranged to take visitors to the top of the hill in Ko Lanta National Park.
Thai Boxing
There is one small boxing stadium on the island which hosts regular fights. The stadium is a popular place with foreigners for learning the art.
Ko Lanta now has its very own mini-boxing stadium which arranges regular fights. These are popular with foreigners interested in this ancient martial art. Tourists can train there if they wish as there is also a training camp.
Thai Cooking
Thai cooking courses on Ko Lanta offer foregn tourists the chance to learn to cook up all their favourite dishes such as tom yum kung, sweet green curry and chicken with cashew nuts.
Spa
Traditional Thai massage, characterized by its holistic approach to health, is aimed at enhancing not only one’s physical and emotional state but also to allow one to grow spiritually. There are many spa places on this island. However, massage on the beach is also possible – you won’t know however, if she is well-trained (otherwise there could be risks involved)

Looking out from Kualoa Ranch toward Mokoliʻi — “Chinaman’s Hat” — I was struck by how timeless and powerful this view feels. The island rises quietly from the ocean, framed by the lush trees and distant ridges, yet carries a presence that’s impossible to ignore. This place is more than just a backdrop for movies or shows; it holds a kind of spirit, a reminder of the stories, legends, and beauty that flow through Hawai‘i. Standing here, I felt both small and deeply connected — to the land, the sea, and the moment itself.
There are places in the world where fiction and reality blur, and Kualoa Ranch is one of them. Standing before these towering cliffs, it’s impossible not to feel the echoes of LOST. This valley served as a backdrop for so many pivotal moments in the series—scenes of mystery, survival, and the unexplainable. Yet beyond the screen, the land itself holds a deeper power: raw, ancient, and humbling. The black-and-white tones only deepen the sense of timelessness here, as if the island itself is whispering secrets older than any story we tell.
