Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside Britain's parliament in London to protest the government's determination to press ahead with air strikes on Syria. This photo was taken during a sit in on the road outside the House of Commons.

Some protesters told me they feared that bombing Syria would only create more casualties which in turn would only help IS gain more local and international recruits to its' cause.

There is no obvious end game as to what the ultimate goal of any war would be. Would, for instance, Syria's brutal dictator Assad be allowed to remain in power if all opposition in Syria was crushed by bombing ? It was also not clear as to how long the war might last or whether the U.K. might ultimately escalate its' involvement with the use of ground forces and all this action without any UN mandate.

There was also anger that at a time of unprecedented welfare cuts, Cameron was embarking the U.K. on action that would be highly costly to taxpayers even if also highly profitable to Britain's arms industry.

A poll on Saturday in the Daily Mirror suggested the U.K's population is divided and without a convincing popular mandate for David' Cameron's plan to bomb IS positions in Syria.

According to the paper

"48% back British air raids on the extremists, contrasted with 30% who want the RAF to stay out of the fight, and 21% who don’t know. But an overwhelming majority - 59% believe sending Tornado warplanes into action over Syria will increase the risk of terrorists inflicting carnage in the UK."

Kurds protest against Turkish military agression - 11.09.2015

Kurds in London protested outside Downing Street on Sept 11th 2015 following the cynical, opportunistic bombing by the Turkish government of Kurdish positions in Northern Iraq from where Kurdish fighters from Turkey had been making great progress defeating ISIL, and also against the harsh curfew imposed on the Kurdish city of Cizre on the Turkish-Syrian border.

3 August 2014 will remain the day the life of the yazedis has changed. Up to 200,000 yazedis people have been displaced from their homes in Sinjar City and the surrounding towns and villages when ISIS arrived by surprise .

The islamist group asked the residents to convert or die...Hundreds of Yazidis were executed as they refused. Most of the people left the village on time, fleeing on foot in the mountains, without nothing and most of the time without water or food , under a 50 degrees temperature. They walked for 7 days, including the babies and the elders. Many were killed, wounded or captured on the way. Now thousands are in Duhok in Kurdistan, and towns like Zoar when they have found a shelter for the winter. Some still have contacts thanks to the mobile phones with the relatives captured or trapped in Sinjar, but many do not have any news of their relatives and fear the worst...Until now, the town od Sinjar is seized by ISIS, where hundreds of Yazidis remain stranded months after fleeing their homes. But Kurdish peshmergas have regained lot of the ground lost to ISIS with the help of the U.S. air strikes. Sinjar is a strategic place as it would put the peshmergas on three sides of Mosul, the largest city under ISIS rule in northern Iraq.

I was not expecting to see Saturday afternoon, as I walked north up Yonge Street towards College Park, a crowd of chanting protesters marching south towards me. After I got my camera out, I could see--and hear!--that the hundreds of people walking down the street were supporters of Kurdish nationalism, protesting ISIS and calling for aid to save Kobani. Presumably it was not much different from the protest here in Toronto that occurred last month. The Kurdish flag was being enthusiastically waved, as were hard-drawn placards with maps of independent Greater Kurdistan and denunciations of Turkey, as was--visible in the final photo in this series--at least one image of Abdullah Ocalan.

With construction stalled in its early stages, the concrete structure is an inhospitable environment for the 63 Yazidi families who now call it home. Children play with no railing or walls to prevent them from falling. “We just want tents like the other refugees,” said one man, after a storm recently ravaged the little infrastructure they managed to set up in the two months they’ve been here. With a cold winter right around the corner and scarce food and water, the future looks dire. And the kids keep smiling...

In case you were confused by the current situation in Syria and Iraq I drew this helpful map to clear up just who's side everyone is on.

When the British government talks about intervening in Syria it would be interesting to know who they actually want to win, seeing as the web of alliances and enemies is now so complex the West appears to be trying to ensure everybody loses.

Women in Pakistan, most notably those of Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab regions, go to various Tombs of Muslim Holy men (also called Sufi or Aulia in Urdu and Persian) and ask for manat. They place these miniature jholas at their favourite tombs and request for the birth of a child from ALLAH via the Saint. When their wish is granted, they fulfil their promises to the Saint. That could be anything from giving charity to visiting the Tomb for consecutive months or even years. Some women even dedicate their child to the Tomb of the Saint as its keeper. Wahabis and Deobandis, both products of British rule in Saudi Arab and India respectively, reject this belief system and name it shirk (a concept within Islam which means that you place someone on the same pedestal as ALLAH or GOD).

UK Kurds hold #StopWarOnKurds protest against Turkish military attacks -London 06.03.2016

Thousands of UK-based Kurds and their supporters marched through Central London to demand that the Turkish government ceases its brutal military attacks on Kurdish people in Northern Kurdistan, Syria and Iraq. The protesters also accuse Turkey of abusing its NATO membership by covertly supporting Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists, giving them safe passage across Turkish borders into Syria, providing wounded ISIS fighters with medical facilities and supplying them with armaments.
