Councilman Curtis Jones (4th District) led a presentation honoring and celebrating Philadelphia's Living Legends: Joan Myers Brown, Stanley Clarke, Bill Jolly, and Solomon Jones, who are remarkable figures in the areas of dance, music, literature, and journalism in the Philadelphia area, as part of the commemoration of Black History Month.

Lt. Governor, Boyd K. Rutherford attends GPC 18 Glorious Invocation by Tom Nappi at Baltimore, Maryland
Dublin Middle School celebrated the promotion of its Eighth Grade students during a special ceremony held in the school gymnasium May 23. Quincy Howard provided the invocation, followed by Zaccur Kellam leading the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. Maya Daddy and JaQuavis Evans performed the National Anthem, followed by a welcome from Robin Serrant. Michael Snipes gave a speech entitled, “Reflections of my Tenure at Dublin Middle School, followed by Willie Allen’s, “Paving Our Way to the Future” speech. Brian Howell, II introduced guest speaker, and 2012 DHS alum, Taye Ayuk, who challenged the students to do more and be more as they continued their education into high school. Those sentiments were echoed by Dr. Susan Thornton, who related her time at Dublin City Schools and how, as incoming ninth graders, students would face and overcome adversity. Brea Moody recited an Irish Prayer, before the DMS Chorus concluded the program with a class song, “Worth Fighting,” by Brian Courtney.
2016 America's First Ladies: An Enduring Legacy luncheon commemorating the 98th birthday of former First Lady, Mrs. Betty Ford. The annual event was held this year on April 13, 2016, at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan with special guest Cokie Roberts.
