what a weekend! my internet modem went on the fritz on saturday afternoon - from one second to the other. a short, i guess… so, i had no internet access anymore. can you imagine how strange this feeling was? ;)
well, later the day i will try to get new hardware to get my internet access back. hopefully it will work again soon.

My furgranddaughter, Wynter. Isn't she beautiful? Her eyes are truly the mirror to her heart and soul. LOL she has a bit of dirt on her fur....we were outside playing fetch and she isn't too fussy about being dirty!! I think that's a good thing!! I am soooooo late this morning. I overslept and am trying to rush around getting ready for work. I think the internet is working at work now, so, I may be able to visit during breaks. Hugs and happy Sunday!!

This historic site at Promontory Summit, Utah Territory, was the locale of one of the most important accomplishments of the 19th century.
On May 10, 1869, officials of the Central Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad met here to drive four symbolic spikes (two gold), celebrating the completion of the first transcontinental railroad.
The Last Spike Ceremony is reenacted every year on the May 10th anniversary.
Working replicas of the 1860s steam locomotives 'Jupiter' and '119' keep the kids (and adults) enthralled.

In the mid 1800’s many of the early colonists that came to Texas were Lutheran. The beginning of First Ev. Lutheran can be traced back to one of these colonists writing to the Seminary of Saint Christchona near Basel, Switzerland and complaining of a lack of spiritual leadership on the island.
This letter resulted in the seminary sending two Lutheran pastors to Texas.
These two pastors organized Galveston families into what would become, in the fall of 1850, the First German Evangelical Church.
In Galveston during that time, the center of culture was the Lyceum Hall, located on the corner of Winnie and Bath Avenue (25th Street). It was in the Lyceum that early services were held. This Lyceum still sits on the church grounds today and its cornerstone still reads,
Knowledge is Power
which reminds us of the great scriptural truth,
And the truth shall make you free
With the year 1900, first Lutheran would celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of its founding. The anniversary event never was held, for in September, Galveston suffered the great 1900 storm. The editor of the Tribune describes First Lutheran on that never-to-be-forgotten Sunday that followed September 8, 1900:
Go with me over heaps of ruined homes to the churches – the German Lutheran church has much damage to the interior furnishings, but the old Lyceum is in perfect order and is a shelter for the homeless and desolate.
During that difficult time – as today – First Lutheran played a part in serving the needs of the people of Galveston.
From the original building, a new structure was constructed in 1915. The building still stands today as a reminder of the earliest history of the congregation.

These lions can be distinguished from others in the rest of Africa in having lighter fur overall, longer legs, and larger paws – physiological traits that are also found in other mammals adapted to desert living.
The Kalahari lions, famed for many magnificent black-maned individuals, cling tenaciously to the outer edge of the species' distribution range. These super-fit, desert-adapted animals lure photographers and other wildlife enthusiasts year after year on a pilgrimage to the red dunes of the southern Kalahari Desert, which includes the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

Ahhh... it's Monday. I didn't even pick up my camera at all last week. So sad! I missed it so much!! I am hoping we have our computer/ internet issues worked out and now if I could just get my photoshop to load back on my computer... grr!!
The Internet at our house had gone down earlier this afternoon. Spent an afternoon trouble shooting with AT&T tech support to no avail. It appeared to be something to do with my broadband modem, which has been with us for almost 10 years. Hopefully, the technician would come tomorrow morning and replace it. Until then, I can only post my daily photo from my phone. Without Internet, I feel like our house is in chaos like this photo and I am just the little guy at the left hand corner feeling helpless. Credit to my wife for taking this photo of me and the "House of Chaos".

Bit late getting this on Flickr, the prompt was "Internet" I went with a build that shows how far technology has come over the years. This uses 97 pieces in total.
Working on getting build 3 out this weekend!
Took a quick trip to the Oregon coast over the weekend. We stayed in Arch Cape but also traveled up north to Cannon Beach.

Jetzt findet man sie wieder: unterschiedlichste Wucherungen an Blättern oder Zweigen. Blätter sind von pockigen Verdickungen überzogen oder haben filzartige Stellen, hornartig gekrümmte "Spitzen" wachsen aus dem Blatt, größere oder kleinere Kugeln bilden sich und an Zweigen von Wildrosen sind plötzlich moosartige Bälle zu finden . Es handelt sich hier um Gallen, die von verschiedenen Gallmilben, Gallwespen, Gallmücken oder Gallenläuse verursacht werden. Nicht nur Laubgehölze sind von Gallenbildung betroffen, sondern auch bei Nadelgehölzen kann es dazu kommen.
Eine genaue Bestimmung des jeweiligen Gallenbildners ist nur durch Fachleute möglich, normalerweise aber auch nicht erforderlich, da eine Bekämpfung in der Regel nicht notwendig (keine nachhaltige Schädigung der Pflanze) noch sinnvoll (die Gallen "verschwinden" nicht) ist. Nur in Ausnahmefällen, wie z.B. beim Befall durch die Brombeergallmilbe (Brombeeren bleiben teilweise rot und sauer) oder die Johannisbeergallmilbe, ist der Einsatz von Pflanzenschutzmitteln in Erwägung zu ziehen. Ausschneiden der betroffenen Stellen zusammen mit einer Austriebsspritzung im Frühjahr mit einem Ölpräparat kann hier den Befall verringern.
Bedenken Sie:
•Die Gallenbildung ist in erster Linie ein optisches Problem!
•Die Pflanze ist nicht krank und stirbt nicht ab!
•Eine Bekämpfung der Gallenbildner ist in diesem Stadium nicht möglich und
•die Gallen lassen sich durch Pflanzenschutzmittel nicht beseitigen!
Wenn Sie die Gallen sehr stören, können Sie diese heraus schneiden.

Une cathédrale du street art et du graffiti français.
Ancien poumon économique de La Courneuve situé au pied du RER B, La Compagnie Française Babcock et Wilcox s’installe dès 1898 et réalise des chaudières industrielles destinées à la production de l’électricité. Le site s'oriente ensuite vers la chaudronnerie lourde. Le bâtiment de 4 hectares aux halles voûtées de 15 mètres de haut cesse toute activité début des années 2010. Si la partie nord du site a déjà connu une requalification très importante avec l'implantation de la Banque de France en 2017, la partie sud du site restait en attente d'un projet à sa mesure.
Mais entre-temps, à l’initiative de 3 graffeurs, Zkor, Sto et Namaste, le lieu s’est transformé en véritable musée clandestin. En effet, depuis 2020, cette cathédrale industrielle est envahie de lettrages, vitraux, dessins figuratifs et anamorphoses. Plus de 130 artistes sont intervenus librement pour peindre in situ, construire des installations à base d’objets trouvés sur place ou réaliser des performances, danses et chants. Les artistes ayant investi le lieu se sont réunis en collectif informel baptisé La Babcockerie afin de mettre en lumière leur travail avant que celui-ci disparaisse.
Avant la réhabilitation des bâtiments, cette architecture remarquable est rarement ouverte au public !
Les anciennes usines Babcock et Wilcox ont été rachetées en 2016 par Emerige et la Compagnie de Phalsbourg, qui souhaitent en détruire une partie en 2023 et transformer le reste en quartier « artistique » baptisé « La Fabrique des Cultures.
