Mauritanian Conus Shells beads:
The women of Mauritania; Tuareg, Moorish, etc. weave these decorative shells into their hair and clothing and for many years, have incorporated them into their traditional necklaces and jewelry.
Conus Shell Beads:
Originally a magical possession of the medicine man, the Conus shell acquired monetary value as it traveled from East Africa. It was introduced in Western Africa in the 16th century.
The beads were cut from the crest of the conical shells and then polished smooth, creating a spiral disc. Ornaments made from Conus were also believed to act as powerful charms, amulet and talisman found in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, DRC, Mali and Burkina Faso, etc. They also indicated the high status and wealth of their owners. All beads are in the collection of MBAD/ABA African Bead Museum.
Und weil heute Sonntag ist und bei uns morgen sogar Feiertag (und ich endlich wieder Internet habe ;-)), gibt es diesmal zwei Beiträge.
BARlesque - Verliebt. Verkauft. Verloren.
heißt das diesjährige Musicalprojekt des Fachbereich Lehramt Musik der HfM Dresden. Bereits das dritte Mal haben die Studentierenden der Hochschule für Musik gemeinsam ein Musiktheaterstück entwickelt und auf die Bühne gebracht.
Die Lieder dieses Musicals sind selbst komponiert, die Idee zum Stück kommt von Martin Krimse, das Libretto aus den Federn von Benjamin Hecht und Christoph Grusenick.
Ich hatte das Vergnügen bei der Uraufführung dabei zu sein - und es war grandios!
Herrlich umgesetzt mit Musik von Maximilian Nicolai, Sabine Dietze, Martin Kirmse, Enrico Olivanti zauberten die Studierenden ein kurzweiliges Stück über Liebe und Träume, Kariere und Scheitern.
Unter der Gesamtleitung von Prof. Claudia Schmidt-Krahmer in der Regie mit Sinah Seim Olesch und Merlind Pohl faszinierten sie das Publikum aufs neue. Während die Putzfrau, hoffnungslos verliebt in den Pianisten, sich voller Hoffnungen durch das Leben schlägt ist der Manager bereits satt und hält die Mühlen am Laufen.
Selbst die Showgirls wissen wie der Hase läuft - Job ist Job. Da bringt die Neue richtig Wirbel ins Haus und begeistert in ihrer herrlichen Rolle Barbesucher und Publikum.
Wie ein Griff aus dem Leben untermalt von hinreißend herzhaftem Gesang in muskalischer Leitung von Christoph Grusenick, wirkt hier der Blick ins Geschehen. Die einen Träumen, die anderen Trinken oder ziehen die Fäden und wollen die Rechnungen nicht bezahlen.
So trägt auch auch Oliver Fenk seinen Beitrag bei und lässt unsere Showgirls im richtigen roten Neonlicht tanzen und stehen.
Sehen konnte man das Stück vom 6. bis 9. Oktober jeweils 19:00 Uhr im Kraftwerk Mitte, Haus 2.5. Hoffentlich gibt es bald wieder eine derart überraschend spritzige Bühnenshow.
Second Life holiday parties was an incredible mix of trance, dnb, electronica, dark psy, goa, minimal, proggy, acid, experimental, industrial, noize, tribal, jazz, live music, country, blues, reggae, salsa, classical, opera, and Christmas music. I heard it all and then some.
I love music of all kinds. If it's good, it's worth listening to, so don't start with the nose-up-in-the-air over your favorite genre. Believe me... good music will always find an audience. An audience of sophisticated listeners will stop to listen to any good sound... even if it isn't part of your normal repertoire.
What is amazing is that dj's and musicians around the world know this, and they borrow from all genres to create their own personal sounds.
Here in Second Life, we get the results from around the world. World music mixes with the trendy sounds of the day, and we get the sounds that we love so much.
I want to thank all the dj's, musicians, club owners and event makers in SL. You guys made a holiday scene like no other. APPLAUSE & BRAVO ::::
