Gray is the color of intellect, knowledge, and wisdom. It is perceived as long-lasting, classic, and often as sleek or refined. It is a color that is dignified, conservative, and carries authority. Gray is controlled and inconspicuous and is considered a color of compromise, perhaps because it sits between the extremes of black and white. The human eye can distinguish about 500 shades of gray.
-- Sensational Color
_______________________
Grey. It makes no statement whatever; it evokes neither feelings nor associations: it is really neither visible nor invisible. Its inconspicuousness gives it the capacity to mediate, to make visible, in a positively illusionistic way, like a photograph. It has the capacity that no other colour has, to make 'nothing' visible.
-- Gerhard Richter

In this period there should have been a Christmas market here, but COVID put a stop to that.
It is here, on this “island” (between rivers), near the confluence of the rivers Scheldt and Lys, that the city of Ghent was born. And its name actually derives from Ganda, the Celtic word for confluence.
Three powers are represented in this central square: the citizenry by its mighty Belfry, the intellect by the stately Civic Theatre and the church, by its impressive St Bavo Cathedral.

All 7 and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire..
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare..
I am yours now and u are mine
And together we'll love through
All space and time, so don't cry
One day all 7 will die

"Oh, Creator of the universe, we meditate upon thy supreme splendor. May thy radiant power illuminate our intellects, destroy our ignorance and guide us in the direction of enlightenment by purifying our inner hearts.
You Who are the Source of all power, whose rays illuminate the world, illuminate our hearts so that they too can do Your work.
Let us commune with the luminous light of consciousness that sustains all the worlds, that it may inspire our liberation."
Dedicated to all my brave Ukranian brothers and sisters, my heart has been breaking watching your suffering, and your courage.
Your spirit shows us that greatness is still among us.

~happy fence friday~
To this photo I came, like many times before, by coincidence. After an a bit unsatisfying tour through the forest Hohwald I was on my way back. At a crossing I saw, that the route to the city Bautzen was shorter than the route homewards. So I decided, ignoring any logic, to drive to Bautzen, because there was a view I've passed many times but never photographed it. When I arrived, a lot of luck came into play too, as an extra colourful sunset was waiting for me there. I'm happy, that on this day, I was following my feelings and not my intellect.
today technology embraces many fields, sectors. Design, elaborate, build. All simplified, yet the error is always behind the door. This Sanctuary dates back to 1530, built overhanging a mountain corner where it can be reached on foot through tunnels dug out of the rock. All without modern technology but with only the strength of the arms and an extraordinary intellect.
“Some people think only intellect counts: knowing how to solve problems, knowing how to get by, knowing how to identify an advantage and seize it. But the functions of intellect are insufficient without courage, love, friendship, compassion, and empathy.”
― Dean Koontz
Don't break character
You've got a lot of heart
Is this real or just a dream?
Rise up like the sun
Labor 'til the work is done
(Let's get it started in here)
And the bass keeps runnin', runnin' and runnin', runnin'
And runnin', runnin' and runnin', runnin' and runnin', runnin'
And runnin', runnin' and runnin', runnin, and runnin', runnin'
And
In this context, there's no disrespect
So when I bust my rhyme, you (break ya necks)
We got five minutes for us to disconnect
From all intellect, collect the rhythm effect
To lose your inhibition follow your intuition
Free your inner soul and break away from tradition
'Cause when we be out, girlies pull they weave out
You wouldn't believe how, we wow shit out
Burn it 'til it's burned out, turn it 'til it's turned out
Act up from north, west, east, south
Everybody (Yeah), everybody (Yeah)
Just get into it (Yeah), get stupid (Come on)
Get it started, (Come on) get it started (Yeah), get it started
Let's get it started (Ha), let's get it started (In here)
Let's get it started (Ha), let's get it started (In here)
Let's get it started (Ha), let's get it started (In here)
Let's get it started (Ha), let's get it started (In here)
Yeah
Lose control, of body and soul
Don't move too fast, people, just take it slow
Don't get ahead, just jump into it
Y'all hear about it, the Peas will do it
Get started, get stupid
Don't worry about it, people will walk you through it
(Step by step) like an infant new kid
(Inch by inch) with the new solution
(Transmit hits) with no delusion
(The feeling's irresistible and that's how we movin')
Everybody (Yeah), everybody (Yeah)
Just get into it (Yeah), get stupid (Come on)
Get it started, (Come on) get it started (Yeah), get it started
Let's get it started (Ha), let's get it started (In here)

Up inside the club or in your Bentley
Get messy, loud and sick
Y'all mind pass normal on another head trip
So, come them now, do not correct it

#Nuts
Pareidolia gone nuts? I was lucky that I still had the package of walnut halves that I'd bought for the "In Ice" theme (please see the first comment). So I thought I'd continue that story: a "brain", finally freed from the restrictions of its former ice skull housing – what would it do? I think it would begin to curiously discover its new world, discover its own intellect (without the interfering thoughts of its previous owner) – much like a child that grows up and gets more and more independent, and has an enormous hunger for knowledge, but also for mischief and fun :) My first idea was to make a pair of glasses for the brain / walnut; I thought I'd use jewellery wire for it, but then I looked at the small walnut halves and the thin wire, and thought: impossible! Unachievable! Too difficult for my clumsy hands! Well, I might have given it a (most likely unsuccessful) try, but went looking for nuts in the toolbox instead, nuts small enough to serve as eyes. So may I introduce you to Frankie, the brain that set out to conquer the macro world – but should adjust its eyes first :)
Happy Macro Monday, Everyone, stay safe and healthy!
FOR E.
On the Soul (Greek Περὶ Ψυχῆς (Perì Psūchês) is a major treatise by Aristotle on the nature of living things.
His discussion centres on the kinds of souls possessed by different kinds of living things, distinguished by their different operations. Thus plants have the capacity for nourishment and reproduction, the minimum that must be possessed by any kind of living organism. Lower animals have, in addition, the powers of sense-perception and self-motion (action).
Humans have all these as well as intellect.
Is this true?
WISH YOU ALL A MOST HAPPY WEEKEND!
The life of Daniel Herbert can be divided exactly into two halves. The first 33 years are stormy and filled with unrelenting hardship. For a man of so much talent and intellect, the emotional and psychic pain was almost too great to bear. But the next 33 years he lived in Ross allowed him to fulfil many of his hopes and to find the love, acceptance and freedom he so deeply craved. Tranquility had arrived at last.
And so it is fitting to look again upon his masterpiece and see it in the golden light it deserves. Vale Daniel Herbert. We never knew you, and yet you speak to us still. Thank you.
But for the residents of Ross today, the battle to save the Ross Bridge from the further erosions of time continues. It is well worth reading of some of their struggles in this short article. We cannot allow a work of art like this to perish with neglect.

This is one of the most famous vistas in the world and it is truly one of the most impossible to photograph. That may sound like a bit of a dumb statement considering how beautiful it is and that you have a very nice flat viewing platform with which to enjoy it. The reason that I say this is because the landscape is so incredible that no photograph will ever truly do it justice. It is a place that you have to experience for yourself. The second reason that I named this image "Impossible" is because in truth this isn't a place that magically formed over billions of years worth of random collisions and dramatic weather events and climate change. When you actually take a moment to just sit and look at this place and drive into the valley while viewing the towering granite peaks and roaring waterfalls all around you, it is clearly evident that there is so much intentionality in this place. See, catastrophic weather events can certainly create some beautiful things, but they cannot do so on their own accord. A flood may have power, but it does not have creativity, precision, intellect, or love. Rather a loving Creator is continually creating even while using broken things and catastrophic events to create something infinitely more beautiful than random chance could ever accomplish. If we actually take a moment to take in the beauty of creation all around us, it is extremely evident that there is a highly intelligent, insanely creative, and unimaginably powerful Creator behind all of this. His name is Jesus!
All 7 and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare
I am yours now and u are mine
And together we'll love through
All space and time, so don't cry
One day all 7 will die
All 7 and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare
I am yours now and u are mine
And together we'll love through
All space and time, so don't cry
One day all 7 will die
And I saw an angel come down unto me
In her hand she holds the very key
Words of compassion, words of peace
And in the distance an army's marching feet (1,2,3,4 - 1,2,3,4)
But behold, we will watch them fall
And we lay down on the sand of the sea
And before us animosity will stand and decree
That we speak not of love only blasphemy
And in the distance, 6 others will curse me
But that's alright, (that's alright)
4 I will watch them fall(1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
All 7 and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare
I am yours now and u are mine
And together we'll love through
All space and time, so don't cry
One day all 7 will die
[(Just how old)]
And we will see a plague and a river of blood
And every evil soul will surely die in spite of
Their 7 tears, but do not fear
4 in the distance, 12 souls from now
U and me will still be here - we will still be here
There will be a new city with streets of gold
The young so educated they never grow old
And a, there will be no death 4 with every breath
The voice of many colors sings a song
That's so bold
Sing it while we watch them fall
All 7 and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare
I am yours now and u are mine
And together we'll love through
All space and time, so don't cry
One day all 7 will die
(Just how old)

Exploit the point into tracks, to devour

It's a rocky road that leads to Fairy Falls. It cuts through a hilly woodland where you share the road and trails with grazing cattle. Watch out for those bulls. Some of them are the size of a bread truck. When they turn that tough-guy look on you, it makes you want to light out for the creek. Be sure to watch where you step while you're running. The stink eye isn't the only thing that smells on these trails.
Happy Fence Friday everyone.

I had a clear out of my kitchen cupboards today (last time was 2012 according to the oldest date I found on a pkt of dried herbs). I found a couple of packets of nuts which I crunched up and put out on the bird feeder. Not long after this hungry pair descended for a feast, however Oz was sitting beneath and become rather excited so started his funny chattering that he does when a bird is in the vicinity. The birds did not seem worried and just took it in turns to watch Oz while the other one ate, it never ceases to amaze me the intellect of other species (although not sure about Oz, he hasn't a clue when it comes to bird stalking!)
