FORT NORFOLK, Va. – For years, Mother Nature’s fury has steadily eroded the structural integrity of the Fort Norfolk pier and wharf area, seriously degrading its operational effectiveness and jeopardizing its safe operation. Broken, crumbling and missing pilings; underneath pier foundation completely deteriorated; wharf top cap rotten away; mooring fasteners and piling bolts – gone! That was then. Today, new state-of-the-art structural upgrades expand the facility’s operation and extend its useful life for up to 15 years. The Fort Norfolk Bulkhead and Pier Repair project, under the design and construction management of Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, began work in October 2011, and was completed ahead of schedule and more than $150,000 under budget. The Corps’ prime contractor, Team Henry Enterprises, LLC, based in Newport News, Va., is an 8A minority-owned small business. The project marked the first time Team Henry had performed work for Norfolk District, but their land work experience extended to other federal and state agencies. Completing the project ahead of schedule and below budget was no surprise to Steven Baum, Norfolk District’s project manager.
Two things which have been seriously lacking in the UK for 13 years now but with today's by-election results there is a glimmer of hope.
So Binna Park, the redhead version got to be the model for my latest creation. She has that perfect couture vibe that works so well with these kinds of retro vintage Galliano inspired designs. I specifically took inspiration from the Dior Spring 2008 Couture collection but Galliano worked a lot with this balloon design and I just love how he explored volume in different ways. There isn't a dress in this shade of green in the Spring 2008 collection (though I think there was in a different Galliano collection) nor is there one quite like this. I had a couple of designs in mind when making this but wanted to exaggerate the high low hem slightly so you can see all the folds in the back of the skirt - that's what I enjoy most about this design. The pattern was actually designed to fit Poppy so this dress should fit her as well but due to the lacing and remarkably similar torso proportions between Poppy and FR the dress fits FR really well too. I changed direction on my plans to add a collar to this dress since despite working all day to create the collar I still wasn't satisfied :-( In addition, I also have in mind the idea of adding different top half elements to this dress and the minimal decolletage and cut away back and sides leave open lots of possibilities compared with the collar detail I originally planned.

I sold my Addicted Luchia last year to raise some funds but she didn't stay away. I do love her. I won her and Onyx Vero in an auction I thought I would be outbid on. I forgot my bid and notification came through that I won :O)

I preordered an Integrity Toys Homme body on their direct store and decided to buy their Dynamite Girls A-Tone body cuz hey it was half price (IT said they would receive the body late Jan but I’ve heard nothing yet). From what I saw online A Tone was usually IT’s second or third most dark skin tone so I hoped I could articulate one of my painted body dolls.
Unfortunately, it’s nowhere near the skin tone of my vintage Live Action Christie.
It’s closer to the Grace/Kara skin tone (Afra and light black) but it’s a lot less orange.
In the end I chose to put my late 70s/early 80s Malibu Christie on here since she has the same issue with being too grey for modern dolls. My Pink N’ Pretty Christie from 1981 is the exact same skin tone so I guess IT (light) A-tone would match the 80s AA mattel dolls.
