1. Each developer pod consists of two parts: A thick plastic coated paper ("wrapper") taken from the bag of a baking mix for a cake and a plain thin paper ("breaking paper"). The thin paper is to introduce a predetermined breaking point to the pod, because the wrapper is to solid to break.
2. and 3. The wrapper gets folded and sealed at the long side with a heat sealer so that the breaking paper gets clamped. The breaking paper has to protrude a little bit inside of the pod.
4. and 5. Then the pod is folded in the middle and the folded edge is put about 1mm deep between the heating bars of the heat sealer. Because the wrapper only on the inside is coated with plastic it can be folded back after sealing. This divides the pod in two chambers.
6. Each side of the pod gets 0.5ml of developer paste.
7. Push as much air out as possible, but take care to not get developer paste on the area to be sealed.
8. Seal the the short edges of the pod.
9. In the last step the sealed area of the edge where the pod will break is cut down to a width of about 5mm. In the picture it's only 1mm, but that increases the danger of leaks while 5mm breaks just as reliable during development.
With the pods made this way I get very consistent spread. At room temperature they keep the developer paste fully working for about two weeks, after that I get incomplete coverage, just like Polaroid 667 after ten years.

Made in USA , 1977-1982 .Based on the Kodak "Handle" / EK2 instant camera , but with leaving out the battery test button and warning light . The closed window of the latter is visible on top (following the text "Choky) . The camera was made for premium sales ; the Coca Cola 'Happy Times' camera is another example (not present in my collection) .
