Also known as a Grizzly. This healthy boar was seen and admired in the Tetons with good friends Debbie Tubridy, Jen Hall and Rodney Lange.

"Meriwether Lewis and William Clark first described it as grisley, which could be interpreted as either "grizzly" (i.e., "grizzled"—that is, with golden and grey tips of the hair) or "grisly" ("fear-inspiring", now usually "gruesome"). The modern spelling supposes the former meaning; even so, naturalist George Ord formally classified it in 1815 as U. horribilis, not for its hair, but for its character.

Occasionally a huge male grizzly has been recorded, whose size greatly exceeds ordinary, with weights reported up to 680 kg (1,500 lb). A large coastal male of this size may stand up to 3 metres (9.8 ft) tall on its hind legs and be up to 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) at the shoulder.

A grizzly bear can also be identified by its rump, which is lower than its shoulders; a black bear's rump is higher than its shoulders. A grizzly bear's front claws measure about 2–4 inches in length; a black bear's claws measure about 1–2 inches in length." Wikipedia

Was a treat to safely enjoy the scavenging, digging and hunting for more food before his time to hibernate.

Verbier : Mont fort and the Grand Combin.Canton of Valais, Switzerland. Izakigur 25.02.11, 14:35:51.

Me.

"Mont Fort is a mountain of the Pennine Alps, located near Verbier in the Swiss canton of Valais. It lies on the range between the valleys of Bagnes and Nendaz, north of the Rosablanche. With a height of 3,328 metres above sea level, Mont Fort is the highest summit north of the Col de Louvie (2,921 m).

Mont Fort is surrounded by several glaciers, the largest being the Glacier de Tortin, on its northwestern side. The second largest is the Glacier du Mont Fort, located on its northeastern side. On its eastern side lies the lower summit Petit Mont Fort (3,135 m). The Glacier du Petit Mont Fort lies between the two summits. There are no glaciers on the south side of the mountain. A small lake named Lac du Petit Mont Fort (2,764 m) lies on the south flank.

The summit of Mont Fort is easily accessible by cable car from the heights of Verbier or Nendaz. The cable cars from the two valleys converge at the intermediate station (2,894 m) north of the Col des Gentianes, the upper section reaching a height of 3,308 metres. In the winter and early spring season, the mountain, including the Glacier de Tortin, is the culminating point of the 4 Vallées ski area.

A different experience in every season: Oisterwijk's Forests & Fens are exquisite, tranquil and inspiring all year round. Different footpaths, cycle routes and horse trails will lead you – with or without the aid of a forest ranger – through the beauty of one of the Netherlands' most unique areas of nature. There are no less than 80 fens in this stunning green expanse – pretty impressive, right?

Four seasons

Whether it’s the frozen fairy-tale fens of the winter, the dynamics of nature coming to life in spring, the musical croaking of frogs in the summer, or the explosion of colours in the autumn: Oisterwijk's Forests & Fens are a feast for all the senses.

Spot kingfishers, deer and roe deer, or bear witness to the wide variety of insects and water creatures in the fens and ditches. And after an exhilarating day of activity or sport, head to one of the large terraces to enjoy the peace and quiet and a tasty snack, lunch or dinner.Oisterwijk's Forests & Fens Groot Speijck Visitor Centre has a great terrace, as does Boshuis Venkraai. And both are ideal places to relax and soak up the surroundings.

Butterflies...Go free !

"Step into the almost spa-like setting of the Main Exhibition Greenhouse, where the heat and the flowers’ sweet fragrance help you forget winter. All around you, hundreds of colourful butterflies flit joyously about amidst the lush greenery, filling you with a sense of lightness and inviting you to relax..." Botanical Garden - Montreal !

…and here are another 2 images taken during Inspire’s maiden flight over Lake Hume this past weekend.

As with the previous image my focus was on flying so I had dialed in my exposure settings before take off and then simply controlled the camera for the compositions.

I was at odds with an image that clearly shows my 4WD parked in the scene but as these are my first set of images I’m ok with having a little fun.

I went to the flea market this past weekend and found 3 vintage lenses for an old Pentax camera. I already had the adaptors to connect these types of lenses to my Nikon. What a steal! This is the Tamron 28mm F/2.5 lens. It is a little gem thus far. :)

PS. I have had this Kazoo forever and was never inspired to use it for a photo. Thanks Macro Monday for inspiring me to do so! :)

I wish peace, love and serenity for all in 2019.

Thank you for every fav, comment and support you have given - and also for the wonderful and inspiring photography that you have so generously shared.

At Pashley Manor Gardens you will discover 11 acres of beautiful borders and vistas – the culmination of a lifetime of passion for gardening, an appetite for beauty and an admiration of the tradition of the English Country garden. These graceful gardens, on the border of Sussex and Kent, are family owned and maintained – visitors often express delight at the attention to detail displayed throughout and the intimate, peaceful atmosphere.

All the ingredients of the English Country Garden are present – sweeping herbaceous borders, ha-ha, well maintained lawns, box hedges, espaliered rose walk, historic walled garden, inspiring kitchen garden, venerable trees and the Grade I listed house as a backdrop. The gardens are a haven for wildlife – bees, butterflies and small birds as well as moor hens, ducks and a black swan. Then, of course, the plants! Borders overflowing with perennials and annuals – the look changing through the seasons, but always abundantly filled, and each garden ‘room’ planted in a different colour theme.

Pashley is also renowned for fantastic displays of tulips, roses and dahlias. Our annual Tulip Festival features more than 48,000 tulips this year! During Special Rose Week over a hundred varieties of rose swathe the walls, climb obelisks and bloom in flower beds. Then in late summer our Dahlia Days event transforms the gardens once more with bountiful, brightly coloured dahlias in every border and pot.

Add to all this a Café and Terrace with excellent garden views, serving delicious homemade lunches, scones and cakes; Sculpture and Art Exhibitions; a Gift Shop with Plant Sales; and a friendly, knowledgeable team waiting to welcome you, and the recipe for a wonderful day out is complete.

Common in name and number, but each one unique in my eyes and still inspiring joy and intrigue.

These common crow butterflies seem to favour resting on the trails of tears succulent I have. This past week I've seen one or two there every day.

Also known as the oleander butterfly due to them laying their eggs on the leaves of plants that have a milky sap such as oleander and two species of fig, amongst others.

This is specifically Euploea core ssp. corinna.

A photographer who zoomed in on an airplane flying overhead couldn’t believe his eyes after he saw a bright rainbow contrail coming out of the back of it !!!

The resulting photos are colorful vapor trails coming out the back of a commercial jet. But just a few days later on July 24, Mukherjee spotted yet another colorful contrail with his own eyes !

The trails in the sky left behind by airplanes are mostly made up of condensed water vapor from airplane engines. Rainbow contrails, or iridescent contrails, are produced by individual water droplets that diffract sunlight.

Mukherjee used his Nikon D5600 with a Sigma 150-600mm attached to capture the images.

What's really important in life? Sitting on a beach? Looking at television eight hours a day? I think we have to appreciate that we're alive for only a limited period of time, and we'll spend most of our lives working. That being the case, I believe one of the most important priorities is to do whatever we do as well as we can. We should take pride in that.

Victor Kiam

Hi! So lately, I've been having major crushes on all the patterned clothing that's coming out. How inspiring it's been, in the dead of winter, to be able to throw on clothing that screams, "I'm alive!" And we are.
