Latin: Hypsopygia costalis

Not sure about the identification. I used a flash so the gold colour is not as visible as it should.

This was shot on a nettle leaf.

Found this hairy fly near Terrigal, NSW, Australia. Very much alive and buzzing!

In Britain, primarily south-eastern species, however, it has shown a marked increase in abundance in recent decades and may be spreading northwards. It was first recorded in Staffordshire in 1983, but is now widespread in the county. Most records are from standing water, usually in small numbers.

saw this little guy outside hiding under the broom. haven't seen one in ages so it was a nice surprise

The 1st time I have seen this hopper.

Series of 3 shots. In the next 2 shots I think he was sort of hiding , but curious at the same time, peeping over the leaf, and I got some nice head on shots.
