Here is a clock...the shape is simple, but the innerworkings are complex. Sort of reminds of the amazing human body, doesn't it?

Macro Mondays: "Gear" theme.
I decided to use my favorite gear gear--an old watch with the most beautiful inner workings (that don't work!) I have photographed this watch many times...
That is an image of some serious gum disease. The Ninth Circle of Periodontal Hell, you ask me.
...
Ehhh, okay, fine, disbelievers. It's just the inside of a pepper with some light tweaks to curves, levels, and a blending filter (overlay or multiply -- I forget which, it's been so long since I did it, five minutes, maybe fifteen).
Not teeth. Just pepper guts.
A guy can try.

'Lord Malak personally came to my Sith Knight trials. As little as the Sith Knights and Masters among our training group tell us of the trials , this is not normal. I can only assume he thinks of myself and the Sullustan as special , or wants to personally oversee his army's innerworkings on this moon to make sure they aren't getting weak. He sends us out to find a Wampa , equipped with only our lightsabers and the Force. We search for roughly twenty minutes before hearing a low growl , and suddenly out comes a large , bipedal beast covered in white fur , slamming the Sullustan into the jungle floor. Before he goes for the killing blow I throw it back to give us time to draw our lightsabers , as our low level force lightning isn't going to help against this predator of the ice. Quickly we get on each side , I sever his arm and the Sullustan stabs it in the head , killing it. As instructed we take one of its horns and try to get back as fast as possible , for in another thirty minutes we shall be deemed as failing and shall be dealt with as such. As I approach the encampment , I feel as if this isn't the end of the trials. I just hope it isn't to find more large beasts so quickly , and especially so if the large beast in question is one of the Rancor beasts. My Masters said they fought one such beast (or one of equal rapport , such as an Acklay) in their trials , but never said what happened to the other two with them. I can only assume the beast killed them..'
I hope he didn't think that was hard , the sith may kill him for that... You know how they hate weakness. So this is a continuous shot , I have a second shot that is in the same scene as this one , so I'll just copy and paste that desc to this. The robed Dark Jedi was hard to pose , so I just added some snow to him to stabilize them , it didn't ruin the shot , did it? Also , work on the assumption all these photos are taken by Mandalorian spies or Sith Assassins sent to follow people...
Ask not what your Hibiscus can do for you today, go foto now your neighbor's best? Be honest, better than your's is your neighbor's ...?
How often does the grass, girl, man, car next door appear better than yours until you make that move and learn how blessed you be with what you already got.
Remedy: stay on your side of the fence and be grateful for what you have, it could be so much worse!
Satan wants each us to be full of envy and steal our neighbors' stuff. We can be better than Satan by praying hard and listening to our conscience before losing it.

By definition, a government has no conscience. Sometimes it has a policy, but nothing more.
Charm is a way of getting the answer yes without asking a clear question.
Culture: the cry of men in face of their destiny.
Don't believe your friends when they ask you to be honest with them. All they really want is to be maintained in the good opinion they have of themselves.

I want to create an inner ecology of unconditional love, deep nurturing and stillness. I want this to be what I fundamentally function from, the gift I offer to this world.

Gears were laid on top of a diy light box. Two flashes, sb-24 and sb-28dx, both at 1/8 power were placed inside the box to blowout the background. Stopped down to f/18 to get the silhouette of mostly silver, shiny cogs and chainrings. Had problems with flash sync at 1/500s so I kept it at 1/250s.

Every time that you live yourself sputtering, falling off track and wondering what the heck has gone wrong, You remind yourself that You need to get back to your roots. It’s define, “roots” as the values, principles and core spirituality that make me who You’re living and how you feel Architects.
The more we understand our spiritual side- the inner-working of what makes us who we are- the greater chance we have at finding inner-peace. This drawing is a beautiful representation of taking the things that we believe, making sense of them and converting them into action, in order to attain harmony in our lives. So often in life we live like actors- putting on a false self over our true selves to try and find happiness, humor or success.
Our residence can endorse this behavior but, sometimes we lead ourselves there when our minds go astray. The architecture of least resistance is choosing to live someone else’s life.
The housing less taken, if you will, is when we aspire to live up to the values and high standards that we should all set for ourselves. The cumulative effect of sequencing facades , both good and bad, is the way we make sense of our home . It’s how we process information and identify with ourselves and others, emotionally.
One of the most important parts of life- the thinking behind how we make our home -is affected by the aggregate of our experiences. When we’ve been hurt, mistreated or taken advantage of, we become hesitant and reluctant to trust others. That could lead us to deliberating longer over our home .Once we know in our heart what we want, we should reconcile that feeling with our minds. Then, we need to move swiftly for what we believe is right.

So this is the second one. I think I did a better job of posing here , but that's just cause I didn't have to use snow supports for one of the figs.
One thing that bugged me about these two pictures were that the mulch in the flowerbeds I took these in made the ground brown underneath the white , but I guess that's what I get for taking it under the big giant magnolia tree. I suppose I can say that the jungle prevented too much snow from getting on the ground this thick into it. So anyway , I have a few MORE from this batch and a huge batch I took this morning , and I'll have a good amount of photos to post for a while.
One of the MOCs I brought with me from NY to VA for display at Brick Fair. This Space Police Base was started back in February because I felt the Space Police needed a police dept./base to house their offices, jail cell and vehicles.
The garage doors open up with a lever and Technic innerworkings. Above the 1st garage is the main HQ and above the 2nd garage is the jail cell/lock up. The main lobby is in the front. Out back on the ground level is the Impound Lot where Kranxx's vehicle is locked up.
I used many, if not all of my BURPs to build much of the support/foundation of the base to make it look like it was carved out of moon rock.
We forget to stop and look at things at the source. We accept lies as truths because the steps needed to debunk them are arduous. But if we paused for just moment, enough to come to our senses for once single second and see past the fog that has surrounded us our entire lives, we could see the beauty of it all. The lies would unfold and fall away, and the wonderful truths would be revealed. All it takes is a closer look.
I took this photo using a macro lens that I received on Christmas. I was fascinated with the idea of taking pictures up close, so I started going around my yard and snapping photos of just about everything. I created contrast by turning the Temp. to +46 so the image was more yellow and turned the Texture and Clarity all the way up. I also turned up the Contrast and Shadows.

for now my doha experience is over. and apart from feeling overwhelmingly tired i have a mix of loss, excitement and trepidation about what has been and what is coming next.
sitting here at my parents house, surrounded by loved ones and family, i am in the calm before the storm. all too soon my life is going to erupt in a whirlwind of activity and movement. melbourne to europe, europe to... wherever... maybe with a stop in qatar for old times sake...on the way here though i did some reminiscing about my time there...
Leaving Doha is surreal. Two years ago I arrived in a strange, dusty city with nothing but high expectations and a backpack. Very soon I was shocked, scared, alone and forced to survive in a strange land for at least the next six months. (Dramatic, I know). Quickly six months turned into one year. One year turned into two - almost to the day. Shock, fear and loneliness turned into romance, understanding and warmth. I grew to understand this strange city, it's innerworkings so foreign to a city boy from Melbourne. I grew to love the subtleties, the mentalities, the insanities, the call to Prayer.
Doha got under my skin. I'm going to miss that place, and I'm certain I'll be going back..
