I've had opportunity during our recent cold snap to tinker with fireplace photos ... this is a long-ish exposure (1/3 sec) of a burning log that ended up kinda looking like a landscape. The flames have a much different character in this rendering than they do to the eye in real time.

Living in the Eastern Sierra can be an adventure in itself, with periodic wildfires fanned by high winds in dry conditions. In August of 2020 the Slink Fire erupted in the Slinkard Valley, and eventually came over the ridge to appear above the homes in the towns of Walker and Coleville in Little Antelope Valley. I captured this image just a few miles from my house, along the detour of Highway 395. Fortunately this fire was contained before it cause too much damage, but a later one fanned by winds over 50 MPH burned over 70 structures in the neighboring community of Walker. Residents and governmental agencies have been reducing sagebrush in and around neighborhoods to minimize future fire wildfire risk.

This Slink Fire panorama was captured Sunday night, August 31, as it burns over the towns of Coleville and Walker in Little Antelope Valley. By September 1, the fire was significantly reduced by air tankers and helicopters. Highway 395 re-opened.

Stunning Sunrise At Blyth This Is One Of Many Shots Taken From A Great Trip Up North!!

Thanks for looking as always your comments etc are appreciated.

If you like my work please feel free to follow me on Facebook or visit my Website. Thank you.

We are just back from New York City to the smoke-filled skies of San Francisco -- nothing compared to the increasing devastation an hour north. This image is based on a photo taken in spring 2017 north of the Tubbs Fire in Santa Rosa. I am certain the actual conditions are far worse. I pray for all those who have lost lives, loved ones, homes, businesses and a way of life that will take years to rebuild.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

This has been the weekend from.....this place.

And the cherry on top was standing on the deck late last night looking at the moon when a big skunk went waddling by.

Ha! Well that's just perfect, I thought.

However, looking at the positive, it did continue to waddle past, and it had the most beautiful tail. All white and feathery.....more like plumage than fur.

And I just got a call......things are on the up and up.

This was taken through a window pane of red beveled glass with tree silhouettes outside. But.....this was my mood. ;-)

Have a great Sunday, all.

Decided while enjoying my campfire to shoot deep into the inferno of combustion chaos which indeed shows many shapes and hot fiery flames....please pass the marshmallows !

Pushing on that trigger is like pulling magic into my very soul...Darrell.

Have a safe and fabulous day dear Flickr friends !

Well it's night time at the groovy Walsh Bay Wharf & Arts Precinct.

And to capture the groovy mood, here is 'Disco Inferno' by 'The Trammps' (1977):

And, in addition, here is Julie Benson with her coolest ever cover version of 'Cream' by Prince!!

So Wash Bay is located right on Sydney harbour, with the bridge to the left and the Crown Casino & Barangaroo to the right.

Time for a late night walk along the wharves to check out all the sparkling lights from the city buildings.

AND, if you are lucky, the Italian and Spanish chicks (on university student visas) serving dinner & coffee at 'The Theatre Bar At The End Of The Wharf' may give you a flat white coffee and a slice of Cassata, even though the cafe has "technically" closed.

Just act very sweet and tell them that you love both Italy and Spain, and that you would love to travel there to take photos, lol. Oh, and also say how much you LOVED your university days and ask them what courses they are doing, etc, etc.

Baby, I'm the reason why Bad's so Fun, Hell's so hot..........

Still have not been able to get out, the weather and work have not been cooperating with me. This is a shot from late last month. Comments and suggestions are always appreciated. Have a great Valentines day!!!

I visited Great Staple Tor the other morning in a bid to bag a shot I have been after for some years. To get the rising sun off to the right of the Tor you have a brief gap near the winter solstice and this has to match up with the right weather conditons and of course not having to go to work! I woke up and looked out the window to see stars and heavy rain which looked odd but having read the forecast the previous night I still made my way out. It was morning of squally rain, hail and a bit of sleety snow showers blown in on very strong and cold NW wind. It was always going to be a 50:50 chance of getting something nice or something bland, luckily the clouds blew in just at right moment as the sun rose. One of those wow moments!

inferno /ĭn-fûr′nō/ noun 1. A place or condition suggestive of hell, especially with respect to human suffering or death. "the inferno of battle." 2. A place of fiery heat or destruction. 3. The infernal regions; hell. michaelamter.com/Inferno.htm

ICM. Rudbeckia.

The underpass allowing traffic to pass underneath the tracks at Essen central station.

She walks to Inferno and remembers talking to Elise the other night there. At least she can, remember it, but it's a recent memory, not like the murk of her memories from years ago. What was it that Elise said? "To get something tremendous, you have to give something tremendous, isn't that always the way?"

"She's probably right," Alice mutters to herself, her top-of-the-line cybernetic eyes scanning the street, nothing missed. The corporation didn't really explain what it really *means* to have part of your cortex strip mined like a coal deposit, replaced with an AI moderated neural gel to work your enhanced senses and store the corp-owned videos the eyes record. Old memories are gone or faint shadows, and the new ones... well the corp will not waste its investment letting you use the AI, so what little you have left are forced into the small amount of cortex they didn't use, and the old memories get pruned out even more. You did sign a contract, whether or not you really realized what it meant.

"Maybe I just get high enough all the time, I never need to store any new memories anyway." Not that she will, really, she thinks bitterly. The others probably lost even more than you did, selfish bitch. But maybe what Tober said has some chance of working. She focuses on that slight hope as she arrives at the club.
