2010 SPRING LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE: INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP
Saturday, February 27, 2010 | 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.| Student Center
Conference Overview - This one-day conference aimed to help students learn how to be an inclusive leader. Participants recognized how power and privilege affect leadership, examined personal identity development and how it impacts their leadership style, and learned to apply key leadership principles responsibly in diverse personal and professional environments. Members of the Temple undergraduate community began the day with a keynote address from Ann Aerts of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and then participated in a day filled with workshops and forums on a diverse array of topics under the umbrella of inclusive leadership. This event fostered dialogue and engaged learning with the hope that participants will continue this important conversation and effectively lead in diverse contexts.
Opening Keynote Address - Ann Aerts is the Director in the Internal Audit Services practice with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and actively involved in civic and community organizations including: Big Brother Big Sister, NABA ACAPS, Exploring, LEADERSHIP Philadelphia and the Girard Coalition Incorporated (an organizations with the mission to further develop the Girard Avenue business corridor, building "a place to be" for diverse businesses and individuals).

Unique voices from the Wordfest lineup filter through the “white noise” surrounding the charged concept of inclusivity. The panel tackles hot button issues such as: “What does diversity mean anyway today?” and “Who gets to decide what stories receive mainstream attention?” to “What voices are (still) absent or underrepresented in the book world?” This salon-style discussion is organized by the Festival’s volunteer White Noise Talks committee.

X mast has become a very diverse celebration. From the traditional nativity scene, we can see Jesus and Virgin Mary and the new born child, but if we look closer, among these traditional figures, we find Santa Claus, and Armadillo and even Rudolph. This shows how diverse and inclusive this celebration has become, learning from different tradions and making them their own.
