The control tower's maritme-themed mural greats us as we slowly enter the port lock; Incheon, South Korea
Landed early in the morning at Incheon international airport and saw this spectacle slightly after I cleared immigration and was lugging 2 baggages with me. I dashed out of the warmth of the airport terminal to grab a shot of this gorgeous sunrise without wearing my down jacket.
After quickly snapping a couple of shots, I realize the planes would fly by the sunrise! Hence, I stood out in the cold and waited for the next plane to coming in for a landing. Alas, I got the shot I envisioned and ran back into the comfort of the airport terminal. My fingers felt frozen, body shivering, but satisfied.
Only sad thing was there wasn't time to grab my gear out. But they say, the best camera is the one you have with you!
KOREA 2012
Incheon Airport was constructed on reclaimed land between Yeongjong Island and Youngyu Island, and took eight years to construct, with an additional six months to test. The airport was officially opened in March 2001.
The Incheon Bridge (also called the Incheon Grand Bridge) is a newly-constructed reinforced concrete bridge in South Korea. At its opening in October 2009, it became the second connection between Yeongjong Island and the mainland of Incheon. The Incheon Bridge is South Korea's longest spanning cable-stayed bridge. In comparison, the Incheon Bridge is the world's seventh longest cable-stayed bridge as of October 2010. The main purpose of the bridge is to provide direct access between Songdo and Incheon International Airport, reducing travel time between them by up to one hour.
